I just watched the interview with David Roger, and I'm in stunned disbelief that the decision to not remove the little girl or insist she go with her father that evening because "Mommy would never hurt us," came down to the child essentially. What in the world is going on in our world that we let a little girl make a life or death decision like this? Where are the good guys who are willing to get a pair and stand up for what is right in a situation like this? The writing was on the wall about this mother's mental health, and the officer, CPS, the girl's father, and the girl's hypocritical grandmother are all responsible for her death. God help us that so many adults let her down. God help us that our state mental health system failed the mother. And the father/ex-husband--we never want to fault the male in the situation--he is the biggest criminal of all (and I hope he sees this)--relegating his family responsibility to the police, social services, and mental health--you have a lot to answer to, and letting CPS and the police officer take the heat is cowardly and disgraceful to you sir. When are we gonna grow up, be adults, protect our children and save ourselves? I am outraged at the chain of neglect and irresponsibility. Thank you, Jon. Indeed, how can the mother's words prior to stabbing her little girl to death not be interpreted, legally or otherwise, as insane? Did anyone bother to answer a simple, empathetic, and humane question, "if this were my little girl, would I let her remain here?" God help us all--the answer was so obvious.
