It's been three days since the Bud Shootout...isn't it about time for NASCAR to change the rules?
It's that "fringe element" that you disparage that was responsible for NASCAR's rise in popularity. Have you noticed that as NASCAR moves farther away from its roots, attendance and TV ratings continue to decline?
Actually, since daylight savings time runs from March to November, the majority of the start times are Eastern DAYLIGHT Time, not Eastern Standard Time.
Nitpicking aside, I agree with you. How many races the last couple of years were shortened, delayed and/or run on Monday because of rain? Several races would have been completed the same day had they started at a reasonable hour.
at least.
Stewart has Hendrick engines and chassis -- which means Hendrick race cars. Which means the #14 might as well be a fifth Hendrick car.
As far as Junior having pretty much the same equipment as Stewart, that just goes to show you Junior is not the driver Stewart is.
Stewart's accomplish is still awesome and I'm not taking anything away from him. But let's face it, do you really think he'd be in the chase if Stewart/Haas was building its own chassis and engines?
Let's not get too caught up in the whole Tony Stewart as an owner-driver thing. He's basically a fifth team for Hendrick Motor Sports. Had he been truly on his own this season he wouldn't be anywhere near the top 12.
It's still impressive what Stewart has accomplished as several more established teams did not make the chase but there's no way you can compare this to Kulwicki's achievement. Go Underbird!!!
Carl Edwards breaks his foot playing frisbee, how odd.
In a totally unrelated matter I read somewhere that the risk of bone fractures increase with steroid use.
So who won? The winner was supposed to be announced Saturday, Sept. 4 (actually, Saturday is Sept. 5) and it wasn't announced either the 4th or the 5th.
What's wrong with carbureted engines? Do fans really care what makes the engines work as long as the racing is good? Personally, i don't see fuel injection helping or hurting the racing, so what's the big deal.

Las Vegas better concentrate on selling out the race it has before they think about getting another race. I saw an awful lot of empty seats there for this year's race.
