Grease fire flame broils SE valley McDonald's

For at least a part of the lunch hour Thursday, it was flame-broiled, not fried, at a McDonald’s restaurant in the southeast valley. A fire broke out inside the restaurant at 1343 E. Silverado Ranch Boulevard, near South Maryland Parkway.

Power has been restored for 1,900 NV Energy customers in North Las Vegas. At 11:30 a.m., someone hit energy equipment while digging, knocking out power in the area of North Pecos Road and East Azure Avenue.

St. George teen dies after being thrown from car on I-15

A 19-year-old Utah man who was ejected from a vehicle Sunday morning on Interstate 15 northeast of Las Vegas has died. Nathan Short of St. George was a passenger in a 2001 Hyundai that was traveling northbound about 7:30 a.m. when the driver lost of control, veered onto the right shoulder, rotating back across the northbound lanes, overturned at the center median and came to rest in a southbound lane, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified a 29-year-old man who fell to his death Friday from an overpass on the Las Vegas Beltway. He is Alejandro Sanchez-Escoto of Las Vegas, the coroner’s office said.

A five-year veteran of the Australian Football League died Sunday in fall from a Las Vegas Strip hotel. John "J-Mac" McCarthy was found unresponsive at 5:40 a.m. Sunday on the south driveway of the Flamingo Hotel, Debbie Munch, a spokeswoman for Caesars Entertainment, said in an email statement. McCarthy was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Munch added.
