Las Vegas High’s football team is the Southern Nevada’s version of the New York Yankees. The Wildcats seemingly win the Sunrise Region each fall, playing in the championship game each year since the valley was split into region’s in 2000 and only losing once — to Desert Pines in 2003.
Las Vegas, which won the state title in 2001, ‘05 and ‘06, is a favorite to make another deep playoff run. It took the top spot in the Home News’ annual Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Wildcats are led by a pair of senior transfers — quarterback Emir Lopez from Sierra Vista and running back Reggie Bullock from Western.
