Isn't it about time there was a return to personal accountability and responsibility? There are some things for which government protection is welcomed and necessary; foreign invasion, illegal immigration, financial fraud to name a few. Having the government pat me on the head and tell me how and when to spend my money, and how to budget my money is not something I welcome. Too many people in our society today refuse to accept the consequences of their behavior and want to blame anyone but themselves if their actions result in a negative. Perhaps blocking the debit/credit card prefixes of EBT and unemployment debit cards would be appropriate. However, I'm all for taxation of online gambling as the revenue is sorely needed. We need some new way to beef up the welfare coffers so that those who refuse to take advantage of education and make a way for themselves have some sort of income until the government re-evaluates social welfare programs and thins the ranks of the able bodied and moochers.
Doesn't the government have enough REAL issues to concern themselves with? Whatever happened to all our so-called 'freedoms' in this so-called DEMOCRACY that we are supposed to be living in. How free are we really when the government wants to tell us how/where to spend our money - who we have to sell/rent our homes to - businesses who can't decide for themselves whether they want to let people smoke inside their establishment (it's the PEOPLE who can always choose NOT to patronize a smoking establishment if it bothers them that much). Why doesn't the government worry about regulating businesses like the credit card reporting bureau's who could care less if they ever get around to updating your credit history when you DO get things cleaned up - no, they only care about trashing your credit - that's where the government would best serve the people who elect and pay for these politicians (US, the WORKING TAX-PAYING citizens). As for online gambling - it's my money and I will spend it as I see fit - and if I go broke I know the government will NOT be there to bail me out (nor should they be).
