FLASHPOINT:
So Caucus Day …
Sat, Jan 19, 2008 (2 a.m.)
So Caucus Day, the day Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has dreamed about for more than a year, is here. And how does Reid feel? Probably the same way he will caucus today: Uncommitted. He must be thrilled because even he couldn’t have foretold how important Nevada would become. The Iowa/New Hampshire split made Nevada a tiebreaker and focused candidate and media attention here. On the other hand, he’s had to endure the perception that his son, Rory, endorsed Hillary Clinton as his proxy, made worse by the lawsuit the Clinton campaign supported against the Culinary caucuses after the union endorsed Barack Obama. Suddenly Reid was mum when he wanted to be cheering. Be careful what you wish for, senator.

Even from across the country (Pittsburgh, in this case), eyes are turned toward Nevada to see if the revolution this country really needs...will continue in your great state today.
(Reid never foresaw this--Nevada was supposed to be a Clinton Coronation and unstoppable momentum-builder for the Clinton machine through the rest of the primary season.)
What it has now become is a battleground where the establishment's GREATEST FEAR is being realized: The American people, long suffering and long silent, are COMING OUT in record numbers to exercise their one remaining power--the power of the vote.
Before "Change" became a tired, often repeated JINGLE...Barack Obama was quietly yet forcefully stirring a desire in millions to simply SEE a new and better nation take shape, one American at a time.
Barack has steadfastly used another word that you're going to hear more and more from other candidates...because he's tapped into the one thing SO MANY of us have been without for so long.
That word is HOPE.
Do the right thing, Nevada. For all our sakes.
