More on the Candidates

2008 Caucus Coverage

Hillary Clinton says she didn’t fully appreciate the depth of the subprime mortgage crisis until she walked door-to-door in a Las Vegas neighborhood, campaigning for Saturday’s caucus.

It was a slice of the nation’s troubled economy that she hadn’t confronted while campaigning in Iowa and New Hampshire, Clinton said in a phone interview while campaigning in California on Thursday.

Nevada leads the nation in the rate of foreclosures.

“This makes it real,” Clinton said of her time in Nevada, which she returns to today. “It’s not just numbers. It’s people’s lives.”

The New York senator is in a three-way fight, with Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, to win the Democratic contest. The candidates have quieted their sharp tones in this week’s debate, but their surrogates have been pounding away.

Clinton herself toughened up Thursday, throwing subtle barbs at Obama, seizing on recent comments he made about not seeing himself as managing the federal government bureaucracy.

“I will be able to bring experience from both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue,” Clinton said, referring to her roles as former first lady and U.S. senator. “We need someone who can run the government and manage the economy. If you don’t manage the government, the government will take over and manage you.”

The economy was the topic of the day as financial companies posted historic losses and Clinton pitched her $70 billion stimulus package to jump-start growth.

But first, she said, “we have to stop the bleeding,” noting that a representative from the Las Vegas mayor’s office told her during a recent campaign stop that property tax receipts were down.

Toward that end, she has called for a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures and a five-year rate freeze in addition to a $30 billion fund to help low-income families hit by the mortgage crisis.

The stimulus package would include $40 billion in tax relief to low- and middle-income Americans, $25 billion in spending for heating assistance, an extension of unemployment insurance and a $5 billion investment in energy efficiency.

Campaigning in Nevada, Clinton said, has given her a greater understanding of the issues in the race and made her a more competitive candidate, particularly in the formerly red Intermountain West.

She said what separates her from Obama and Edwards is experience, and she is armed with the achievements and the numbers, from the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, which she helped create as first lady (29,000 Nevada kids), to investigating the Fallon cancer cluster with Sen. Harry Reid, to working on immigration legislation with Sen. John Ensign.

“I think Nevadans are already enjoying the fruits of my labor,” Clinton said. “I have a record of achievement that is already impacting the state. I’m not asking Nevada to take me on a leap of faith.”

The key question: Will Nevadans, like Iowans before them, decide they aren’t interested in the kind of experience Clinton offers.

Discussion: 70 comments so far…

  1. No candidate will UNDERSTAND the depth of a citizen's survival unless they live it. We voters need to assess the experiences of the candidate in order to make a decision to lead because of the economic problems this country is NOW facing. When a candidate is "shocked" about how most of the middle class and poor live in this country is EXTREMELY bothersome. What can AMERICA expect? The candidate will have to absorb the "reality" before KNOWING HOW to assist. Knowing how----ONLY comes EASY with experience. Clinton has NO EXPERIENCE with the livelihood of the middle class or the poor. During a debate----Clinton literally did't know the level of income for the middle class--let alone the poor. She's a good candidate----however, she cannot or will not help the poor. In reading her economic policy, that is a STRONG indication that she CANNOT or WILL NOT.

  2. Hillary Clinton keeps talking about her 35 years of experience. "I am offering 35 years of experience making change," she said in New Hampshire. "I'm not just running on a promise of change, I'm running on 35 years of change." And she repeatedly mentioned the 35 years again in this week's debate in Las Vegas.

Well, Senator Clinton, I'm confused. I've done the math. You're 60, which means that 35 years ago you were 25. And I Googled your name, looking for all the change you were making as a 25 year old and, frankly, I'm not finding much. You were going to Yale Law School at the time -- which I'm sure was a personally transformative experience, but it's hardly the kind of change that should count on one's Presidential Training Experience resume, is it? Is that when you started your personal Working-for-Change-O-Meter?

That summer, the summer of 1972, you campaigned in Texas for George McGovern's unsuccessful presidential bid. A worthy -- if ultimately futile -- endeavor to be sure, but a notch on your Years of Change belt? Kind of a stretch, don't you think?

But as liberal as you are with your Experience Arithmetic, you are awfully stingy when it comes to the experience and background of Barack Obama.

"He was a part-time state senator for a few years," you recently said of Obama, "and then he came to the Senate and immediately started running for president," she said. "And that's his prerogative. That's his right. But I think it is important to compare and contrast our records."

For starters, the state senate in Illinois is not a full-time job, but you make it sound like he was some kind of political temp worker, just filling in when someone called in sick. But leaving that aside, why is it that you get to count your time canvassing for McGovern as working for change, but Obama's time as a community organizer and public housing advocate aren't worthy of mention? And what about his time at Harvard Law (where he was the first black president in the history of the Harvard Law Review)? Doesn't count? But your time at Yale Law does? In the now immortal words of your husband: Give me a break.

I know you are good person who is devoted to public service. But that doesn't absolve you of the responsibility to not distort your record. And to not distort the record of your opponent.

Your 35 years talking point just doesn't add up.

This was from the Huffinton post

  3. What is happening to Nevada IS shocking--no one should be criticized for feeling it. The important thing is--she ACTED, first, and fast. She was the FIRST to step up to the plate on sub-prime mortgages calling for a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures and a five-year rate freeze in addition to a $30 billion fund to help low-income families hit by the mortgage crisis. Then everyone else followed. Caucus for Hillary. She knows the right things to do for American families--she will not be learning on the job. We need help now, immediately.

  4. And let's not forget Rezko or that one of Obama's groups is race bating and trying to tell the Latino community that Hillary doesn't understand "our people" even though Deloris Huerta, a Clinton supporter, and one of the main leaders in the Latino community has stated that Obama has no past relationship with the Latino community. And this is after he called a truce on using race. Yet he won't come out and say it's wrong. So all the Obama people can wake up from their dream and get off their high horses because your guy is a politician just like the rest of them!

  5. Gamblndan - obviously you don't know how to do proper research because if you really wanted to find out everything that Hillary has accomplished in her 35 years of public service then you would have found it because it is there. I'm sorry you don't understand simple addition. 60 - 25 = 35 years of working in public life both in elected and non elected positions and both in traditional and nontraditional work roles. Let's see there is the community organizer experience, the partner in a law firm experience, the working on the Watergate trial experience, the working for the Children's Defense fund experience, the working on the betterment of children's education in Arkansas experience, the 8 years as a United States Senator experience, the 8 years as First Lady and partner to the President experience just to name a few. So if you don't see it...it means you are not looking or you DON't want to see it. Stop lying about Hillary Clinton. If you want to make an argument about her then please use facts and logic!

And why hasn't Obama called a meeting of the committee he chairs in the US Senate? He hasn't been doing his job as US Senator because he has basically been running for President since he got elected. Give me a break!

  6. concernedcitezen - your comments aren't even coherent enough to be able to counter act and are also riddled with lies. Go back to the drawing board. Put your thinking cap on, use some logic and some truth and then when you are ready to make a logical, truthful, coherent argument come back to the party. Pathetic is all I can say to describe your comment.

  7. Tim -- you are correct about Obama.

He promised us “change” in Illinois too -- but failed to deliver anything. He has NEVER inititated or supported the kind of fundamental changes that would improve our lives or rid Chicago (my hometown) and Illinois of the politics as usual that has crippled it. On the contrary, he has supported, and benefited politically and financially from our corrupt system here.

The media has an obligation to provide a more insightful and meaningful exploration of Obama's profound lack of record on the issue of “change” in Chicago and Illinois.

Obama has done nothing while on our payroll as our senator but cut deals to enrich himself (e.g. Rezko) and his wife (tell us, Michelle, what was the deal Obama cut that more then tripled your salary to $350,000 at the U of Chicago Hospitals immediately after he was elected to the senate?).

  8. Denwa - thank you. Yes Obama has gotten a free pass by the media and all his swooning followers that don't won't to sober up and detox from their Obama addiction to look at the facts.

  9. Yes, Denwa I have come to the same conclusion as you that Obama has always been about Obama. Remember that "stirring" speech he supposedly gave at the convention when we nominated John Kerry? I read from many people that they kept waiting for him to say something about, well, John Kerry (after all he was the nominee!) but Obama never did. Why? Because he spent the speech talking about himself. He is the cult of personality personified. His irrational supporters I offer up as exhibit A.

  10. Obama is much more progressive than Clinton, and yet he still appeals to many more Independents and Republicans than Clinton. If we want to get things done in DC, the right way, Obama is the one who has a history of creating the working majority necessary to accomplish it -- be it social security, medicare, a meaningful energy policy, enhanced natl security to real health care and a vibrant economy. Clinton's campaign continues to spread ridiculous and misleading information about Obama, which is just a signal that the old guard is threatened and is fighting for the position it feels entitled to. Long time loyalties to the family from Arkansas should give way to a true movement of change that isn't based on partisan politics. Vote your conscience. Vote Obama.

  11. prouddemocrat - If you would switch the word Clinton with the word Obama your statement would be correct and truthful. As it stands now it is a further continuation of the lies and distortions that the Obama campaign and supporters have been spreading for months now. However, I do think people are waking up to that fact now and seeing the light. HRC will win the nomination and the Presidency. So get used to it!

  12. We love you Hillary!!

  13. Yes! That's right WE LOVE HILLARY!! WE LOVE HILLARY! WE LOVE HILLARY!!

  14. All of us want to move on from the Obama era. We have been there seen what it is and don't like it. Let us have the future with HRC!

  15. Millionaire Hillary Clinton has just discovered people are struggling. Give me a break! She should have worked with and been concerned with people instead of being in a private jet on the Wal-mart board selling our jobs to China and overseas.

She is finding out people are struggling like finding her voice. What a pandering lie. She is trying to get on the throne of the White House again because Bill owes it to her. She is in it to win it for herself and doesn't care about us like Obama does. More promises to be broken by the Clintons if you believe this.

  16. Hillary can NEVER win the general election. Her negatives are too high.

More people would vote against her in the general election than for her. Take a look http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-u...

  17. Katy - If you had read everything and looked at all of the polls you would have seen there are times when Obama's negative are higher then Hillary's and many polls show Obama losing to McCain. Obama is a condescending little twit with a very thin resume that panders to the Republicans and gay bashers in the AA community. He is also playing the race card again and again to drum up support. Something that is backfiring on him.

Obama = more of the same old politics of race and division
    obama = generational war
Obama = selling out to the Republicans and giving away more then we need to.
Obame = not sure if he will protect the right to a woman's privacy or if he will just vote present.

I could go on and on but you get the picture.

    VIVA Hillary!!!!

  18. Katy et al: HRC is the one democratic candidate who can win the general election. Check the reality meter; Bush's poll numbers are moving up; Iraq is fading as a mandate; the economy is tanking. So folks the repubs are going to be in much better shape come November and they are going to be hot to hold power---they will have BO for breakfast, lunch and dinner. When you revisit the Clinton years, we had a very robust economy, a budget surplus after decades of deficit spending, real welfare reform (welfare was the #1 national issue and was killing dems---example 1 on bi-partisan getting things done) welfare is not even on the list of issues people talk about today. Our status in the world was high. Jangles

  19. That's right Jangles. A reality check is definitely in order. Thanks, good post!

  20. Lies, deceit, playing the race card, playing the gender card. Us vs them, men vs women, white vs black. That's what the Hillary campaign has shown itself to be. Folks, America doesn't need this! Enough of this Bush-Clinton dance! Vote for a true leader, a uniter, not a divider. I think you know whom I'm for; and if you figured that out, why then would you still be for the other side?

  21. Cedric - since it was Obama that dismissed Hillary's experience as First Lady as just having teas (a very sexist thing to say) and it was the SC Obama campaign that was promoting the race baiting. Didn't you see Timmeh at the last debate hold up the documents? And didn't you hear Obama except responsibility for it? And it was the Union supporting Obama's campaign that sent out flyers stating that Hillary "doesn't understand our people" after he said that he would stop with the race issue. After Deloris Huerta who is one of the most beloved figures in the Latino community and a supporter of Hillary's stated that Obama has no relationship with the Latino community and in fact most Latinos "say Obama who?' So if that is the kind of uniting that Obama is interested in doing then I'm not interested. Let alone how dismissive he has been of the Clintons, the only Democrat to win the Whitehoues twice since FDR and is loved the world over. This is the Obama that wants to forget the 90's and calls for a generational war. No thanks I would rather respect my elders and experience when deserved as it is with the Clintons and others that fought all those good fights of the 90's that Obama doesn't want to think about.

  22. Hillary plays dirty politics all the while claiming to be the victim. She lies. She sent out fliers stating that Obama would create a 1 trillion dollar tax increase for Social Security. FALSE. Actually, most folks won't be impacted by what Obama is proposing. Almost 97% of Americans already pay social security tax on 100% of their salaries. He's talking about raising the cap on the other 3%. Senator Clinton is using a scare tactic here and disingenuous attack, considering that she contemplates raising the cap as well.

To abuse low information voters this way is disingenous and says a great deal about how Clinton would run the country.

  23. CLINTON MISLEADS VOTERS: On meet the press, she stated It was the White House proposal, not Mr. Hagel’s, that Mrs. Clinton supported, explaining in an Oct. 10, 2002, speech on the Senate floor that it was time to tell Saddam Hussein that “this is your last chance — disarm or be disarmed.”
The repeated references to Mr. Hagel by the Clintons make it clear that they are trying to distance her from the Bush administration’s handling of Iraq, by associating her with a persistent critic of the war.
Bill Clinton has raised the claim at least twice, including in an April 2007 interview on “Larry King Live” and, most recently, at a campaign event in New Hampshire just before the Democratic primary there.

  24. HERE'S A DOSE OF REALITY:
HILLARY’S CAMPAIGN CHARGED OBAMA’S CAMPAIGN WITH INTIMINATING A UNION WORKER TO VOTE FOR OBAMA
    http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/early-l...
After the (Nevada) Sun worked the story for two hours, this much is clear: What exactly happened this afternoon at Paris Las Vegas depends on whom you talk to. To hear Clinton’s campaign and her supporters tell it, the union intimidated a member into caucusing for Obama, demanding that she sign a pledge card — or face exile from the caucus.
To hear the alleged victim tell it, it was much more of a misunderstanding.
The Culinary Union has investigated and says the source of the drama seemed to be about how one changes one’s party registration three days before the caucus.
Antuna was a registered independent, and the union reps were talking to her about how she had to be a Democrat to participate on Saturday, Weiss said.
Hardly scandalous and certainly not intimidation, she added.

  25. MORE LIES TO WIN VOTES: On her claim that Obama health plan leaves out 15 million It's true that Clinton’s plan would likely lead to somewhat higher levels of coverage than Obama’s, according to the research we've seen. But the difference in outcomes may not amount to much. The main distinction: Clinton calls for a mandate that would require all individuals to have health insurance; Obama requires only that children have coverage and that dependents be covered under their parents' insurance up to age 25. Of the estimated 46.5 million uninsured in the U.S., 9.4 million are children and 37 million are adults, according to an analysis of Census data by the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured and the Urban Institute. But neither candidate has provided enough detail for analysts to predict confidently how many might be left uninsured under either plan.
In a TV ad for her presidential campaign, Sen. Hillary Clinton falsely claimed that members of the National Guard and military Reserve didn’t have health insurance until she and a GOP colleague took action. "You would think that after all the sacrifices and service of the National Guard and Reserve protecting our country, they would have had health insurance. But they didn’t."

  26. Hillary's Trumped-up Troop Claim: In fact, most of them did. All active-duty Guard and Reserve troops were covered by federal insurance long before she became a senator. Furthermore, four out of five non-active-duty guardsmen and reservists also were covered by their civilian employers or other sources. Clinton did help expand and enhance government health care coverage for reservists but can't claim credit for creating coverage where none existed, as this ad implied. FACTCHECK.ORG

  27. Why do the Clintons feel so entitled to be back in the White House?

  28. Well, I see the Obamaniacs are trolling the comments section in full force again. I hear it's the same two people posting the comments and that they register over and over again using different names. I guess they must be worried about tomorrow. If I were them, I'd be worried, too!
    GO HILLARY!!!

  29. Today the Clintonites are trolling in numbers. Could it be the caucus is tomorrow? They are spreading the Clinton dirty politics and lies on heavy.

  30. Hillary Clinton has pandered people who are losing their homes. And Fortune says her economic plans would hurt them more. See http://money.cnn.com/2008/01/16/commenta...

  37. tim_iapan----The adjective you're using is precisely what Hillary used during the last debate about Bush. Nothing will ever appear logical to her supporter WITH such mindset. Furthermore, for YOU to know of the corruptions and deceptions of that campaign----AND STILL SUPPORT SUCH----then obviously ANY comment from you, in arbitrary, is understandable.

  38. You pick on her if she's not emotional enough and then you critisize her for getting choked up a little.Your angry with her because she voted on the Iraq war.Well then you should be mad at most of the country too because Bush had her and everyone else convinced we were in danger and war was the only way to go.I'll take my chances with Hillary. She saw the mistakes that were made in the White House and knows what doesn't work. She has the experience.Besides, she cant possibly do any worse than the presidents before her.Obama's middle name is Hussein,he went to a muslim school and have you checked out that church he goes to? A little prejudice ,don't you think? I heard they (the church)took some things off thier website because people were starting to raise thier brows. Hill for Pres

  39. Federal Insurance for National Guard and Reservists. No that is not true. I was injured in the Army while training for the National Guard, I can tell you that I had to fight for several years after going up the chain of command through the Army JAG. There was no insurance for ARNG/Reservists unless they went on Regular Duty. And, they do not have the same contract benefits are Regular Armed Forces. I know many people who came back from the Gulf (I was Honorably Discharged from duty right about a month or so before the engagement).

  40. RE: Sen. Clinton's 35 years of experience.

I do not know about you but I worked as a Police Officer while going to junior college. I was in the Army and ARNG after beginning college and before graduating. I call that work experience on my resume. Maybe Hillary Clinton has work experience too?

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/firstl...

"In 1969, Hillary entered Yale Law School, where she served on the Board of Editors of Yale Law Review and Social Action, interned with children's advocate Marian Wright Edelman, and met Bill Clinton. The President often recalls how they met in the library when she strode up to him and said, "If you're going to keep staring at me, I might as well introduce myself." The two were soon inseparable--partners in moot court, political campaigns, and matters of the heart.

After graduation, Hillary advised the Children's Defense Fund in Cambridge and joined the impeachment inquiry staff advising the Judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives. After completing those responsibilities, she "followed her heart to Arkansas," where Bill had begun his political career."

  41. Oh, can we count the years that Sen. Obama was on his way to being a "junkie" or "pothead"?

I am sure that counts for some groups of people.

  42. my2centsworth----

YOU reading about Senator Obama AND Hillary Clinton reading the Intelligence Reports are quite similar. Neither quite understood what was read. That's why HRC voted affirmative for war. Comprehension is needed for a sound judgement.

  43. Clinton just had a dose of reality???? Her statement says it all!
She is NOT in touch with the middle class workers at all. She is powerful though, she said we need to do something NOW for the American people, we can't wait for the elections....Did one phone call to Bush got us a new stimulus package? Hey just heard 4000 layoffs for Sprint, see Hill, We are living the reality! Caucas for John Edwards, he is fighting for the middle class, and we will fight for him!

  44. Obama does not deserve to be president.

His supporters are rude, vicious people from what I have encountered steadily.

Obama encourages it like he did with his smear job "stand up" routine attack on Hillary at a high school today.

He was AWOL and did not vote a record 130 times!!! in the Senate when it came time to '"change" America.

He fixed his wife's salary in Chicago, it doubled to $365,000.00 and he did nothing for the people there on top of it.

    I do not trust him.

His health care plan leaves millions of Americans out in the cold.

He and his campaign workers constantly use bait and switch attacks on their fellow Dems. Being sneaky and dishonest are hardly traits we need all over again for 4 - 8 years.

After he slanders and damages Hillary he plays all innocent and becomes Mr. Nice guy, and it's 'let's all have a truce' after he started and encourages the whole incident.

He has no experience compared to Hillary, only a Jr. Senator 2 short years to Hillary's 7 including her re-election.

Is too young to be President yet, JFK had 14 years in Congress and Senate before he ran, and Obama is no JFK.

Obama steals lines from MLK and JFK for his speeches in an attempt to dupe his zombie youth clone army to thinking he is as great as those great men. Hey Obama, here's a clue! accomplish something first, and be original, "I have a dream" ?? oh brother..

He is a "dreamer" Hillary is a "doer"

His second largest campaign contributer is Exelon, the largest nuclear energy company in America, so much for the environment..

He and his wife both are very materialistic, it is quite obvious seeing their lush lifestyle.

We already have a President we are trying to be rid of giving all our money away to foreigners, we don't need another one.

We already have a President we are trying to be rid of that bases his judgments on what God tells him to do, we don't need another one.

We already have a President we are trying to be rid of who refuses to hold people accountable who screw up when they work for him, we certainly don't need another one.
Hillary on the other hand has fired several of her people when they stepped out of line.

Obama uses preacher speaking techniques in his speeches, an actual phony mind control 'roll technique' used by preachers to hypnotize their followers into mental submission.

Is very arrogant talking down to Hillary in his blatant disrespect for her being a woman and 15 years his senior.

Very disrespectful along with his snotty, clueless followers to both Bill and Hillary thumbing their noses at the Clinton's incredible legacy and all the great things they have done for their country and people all over the world.

I really could go on here more but I think that will suffice for now.

    Hillary All The Way!!

    Obama please just GO away..

  45. Your 2cents really is worth about... I have witnessed junkies and potheads from the vantage point of living in the San Francisco Bay Area, knowing people up and down my state, and I have heard lots of personal stories. A person who uses the word "junkie" to describe his/herself usually is demarking that s/he is not just using marijuana. Among drug addicts, they have catagories. Junkie is generally a heroin addict. Coke addicts do not usually call themselves "junkie". Crack Cocaine addicts are called "crack heads" by their peer addicts. Meth addicts are referred to as "tweekers". "Pothead" usually means marijuana only.

  48. The devil himself can descend in NV and vote for Hillary, He may even bring all his armies. All that will not matter. Hillary will not be the next president of the United States.

Bill Clinton may yell at reporters, he may even bark. All that will not matter. Hillary will not be the next president of the United States.

Marketer and political strategists may repackage Hillary Clinton and sell her to us; All that will not matter. Hillary will not be the next president of the United States.

All Clinton support can vote for her as long as they want; All that will not matter. Hillary will not be the next president of the United States.

    Why?

Americans in the vast majority are people with a good judgment. They know and see what the Clintons are.

  49. Hillary's war votes:

    White House:

Mrs. Clinton had become a champion of the bombing campaign, and many officials — including Madeleine K. Albright and Richard Holbrooke in the administration and Tony Blair, then Britain’s prime minister — turned to her at times to stiffen Mr. Clinton’s resolve to take on Serbia.

“Bill, you’re the president,” was a refrain that several administration officials said she used when Mr. Clinton was torn between his advisers.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/26/us/pol...

    The Iraq vote:

Hillary voted for Iraq. There was another vote, prior to the Iraq resolution, introduced by Levin. This called for the use of UN inspectors, and insisted that Bush come to Congress before using military war. Hillary voted NAY. She wanted to give Bush the tools to go to war, presumably so that Bush had sufficient power with the UN.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/01/opinio...

She then voted for the unfettered Iraq Resolution. This is a quote from at NYTimes Magazine article:

At the time she cast that vote, she was among the Senate’s most outspoken Democrats warning of Saddam Hussein’s dangerous arsenal. Unlike nearly all of her fellow Democrats, she even went so far as to argue that Saddam Hussein gave assistance to Al Qaeda members.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/29/magazi...

Durbin verifies that the Iraq Resolution was a vote for going to war:

Later in the day, another Obama ally, Sen. Richard J. Durbin (Ill.), spoke with reporters in defense of Obama's antiwar record while challenging Clinton's assertion on "Meet the Press" that the 2002 authorization vote, which Clinton supported, was intended as a means for sending inspectors back into Iraq and was not tantamount to giving President Bush a free hand to invade the country.

"Those of us voting on it that October night took it very seriously," Durbin said. The invasion of Iraq as a consequence of the vote "was a very realistic option," he said.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con...

Hillary has acknowledged that she did not read the NIE intelligence report, which pointed out the weaker evidence than they were told. Those who did read the report tended to vote NO on the Iraq resolution. Now, Hillary is trying to blame Condaleeza Rice.

    Iran:

Hillary beat the war drums harder than Bush in 2006 to take on Iran.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con...

Hillary was the only presidential candidate to vote for the Iran resolution.

Hillary voted against an Iraq funding bill that tied funds to political progress in Iraq. It passed, 80-14. She was the only Democrat to vote against it.

  50. Obama's legislation from the US Senate:

    Legislation Passed in US Senate

    * Lugar-Obama Act for reduction of conventional and nuclear weapons world wide

    * Coburn-Obama Transparency Act transparency in federal spending, found at www.usaspending.gov

    * Cosponsored the Healthy Kids Act of 2007 and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) Reauthorization Act of 2007 to ensure that more American children have affordable health care coverage.

    * Obama worked to pass a number of laws in Illinois and Washington to improve the health of women. His accomplishments include creating a task force on cervical cancer, providing greater access to breast and cervical cancer screenings, and helping improve prenatal and premature birth services.

    * As a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs, Obama passed legislation to improve care and slash red tape for our wounded warriors recovering at places like Walter Reed. He passed laws to help homeless veterans and offered an innovative solution to prevent at-risk veterans from falling into homelessness. Obama passed legislation to stop a VA review of closed PTSD cases that could have led to a reduction in veterans' benefits. He passed an amendment to ensure that all service members returning from Iraq are properly screened for traumatic brain injuries

    * Congo

    * Obama has introduced and helped pass bipartisan legislation to limit the abuse of no-bid federal contracts.

  51. Hillary is lethal to the dems:

    THE HISTORY:

    1. In the 90s the Republicans regained the Congress for the first time in decades.

    2. Dems lost 9 Governor positions.

    3. Al Gore, the sitting VP, lost the following election.

    4. Hillary did win the Senate. She claims campaign prowess got her there. In reality, Giuliani dropped out of the Senate race with Hillary, she basically had no opponent. Her re-election opponent was under funded. So, she can't claim her Senate seat as proof of knowing how to win.

    5. What does this predict for the current elections: Two seats in the Congress were just now won by Republicans when campaigns linked the Dem contenders to Hillary.

    THE PATTERN:

We can see that people WILL vote against Hillary. The Clintons are lethal to the Dem party.

  52. Hillary Clinton will say anything to get a vote. I'm listening to her lie to a Reno crowd about how she would destroy the NoChild Left Behind Act. The crowd applauded on cue, she winked and moved on to the next lie. Dec 18 2001 she was pleased to vote yes on the No Child Left Behind Act, but now she's against it. She voted for the war inIraq, but now she's against it, she voted for the Bankruptcy Bill that is causing many to have their homes foreclosed on, but now she has a plan to fix it. I have a better plan. I plan to vote for Obama because he has demonstrated superior judgement at crucial times.

    Obama/Edwards 08!!!!

  53. OBAMA IS A REAGAN PERSON. CLINTON08

  54. Does anyone buy it when, primary after primary, Hillary listens to people and makes some amazing and touching new discovery??!! How ignorant does she think we are?

John Edwards worked hard in New Orleans, before this campaign even began, to help home owners keep their homes. He also worked there many times with a shovel and a hammer. John Edwards has understood this, and all of the other key issues, for a long long time. And he has enough respect to talk straight to us about it.

John Edwards. Straight talk. Honest. Please caucus for Edwards!

  55. Hillary!! Hillary!! Hillary!!
    Hillary!! Hillary!! Hillary!!
    Hillary!! Hillary!! Hillary!!
    Hillary!! Hillary!! Hillary!!
    Hillary!! Hillary!! Hillary!!

You can't knock down our spirit no matter how hard you try you Obama zombies!!

    WE LOVE YOU HILLARY!!

    Hillary in 08!!

  56. ONE NATION, ONE TRUTH, ONE CANDIDATE > HILLARY '08 > HILLARY FOR 8

  57. Derl,
Why do you support a candidate with such poor decision making skills?
When Clinton cast her vote to support the Bankruptcy Reform Bill, she cast the vote to start the housing decline and the foreclosure frenzy going on now. Her poor judgement in casting her Iraq war vote, has caused her to take more positions on that than the karma sutra. We need a President who can make the right decision at the right time, not a President who can justify making the wrong decision years ago. Judgement Matters!!!!

    OBAMA/EDWARDS 08!!!!!!

  58. ARMYSMARMY,

If you believe the stuff you're posting here, it's no wonder you went into the Army.

As you know, the cream of our military intelligence is in the Navy and Air Force; therefore, since I was in the Navy and you are in the Army, you really should bow to my obvious superior intellect.

You are aware, aren't you, that the reason Kerry endorsed Obama was because of SCAMOBAMA'S policy on the Iraq war, i.e., he was against it, before he was for it, before he was against it. Kerry obviously felt complimented by this awe-struck imitation.

In short, we know last year Obama wanted to be like Hillary when he grew up. Now that he sees he lacks the inner strength and vision, he wants to be like Kerry. We know how well that has worked out for Kerry.

  59. betty_h,

John is a very conscientious person and most people like him. That, in the end, will not be said about either Hillary or Obama. Both are piling up negatives within the party.

John should keep above this crap and try to avoid moments like the last podium debate when he doubled up

Unfortunately, John is being painted as a progressive and that will cause anyone in the GE to lose an election. Of the people in the US who take the time to vote, there are not enough progressives in any state to win the electoral votes of that state. This is SCAMOBAMA'S dilemma.

  60. Barack Obama is genuine. He is not calculating, pandering, or partisan in his politics like the Clintons. He also can answer a direct question. Something Hillary has a hard time doing. Obama is what we need right now in America; positive Change we can Believe in. SEE AND THINK: John F. Kennedy's Ted Sorensen's endorsement at http://youtube.com/watch?v=ReDCmk2c2g8

  61. THEY USE SCARE TACTICS IN IOWA AGAINST STUDENTS...

THEY USE RACE CARD AGAINST BLACKS IN SOUTH CAROLINA...

THEY USE SMEAR TACTICS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE ABOUT DRUGS AND ABORTION...

THEY USE LAWSUITS IN NEVADA AGAINST HISPANICS...

THEY WILL DO ANYTHING FOR POWER!!!!WELCOME TO THE CLINTONS WORLD!!!

  62. "OBAMA PORTRAIT MUSIC VIDEO" on Youtube - Don't Miss It!

For those of you who still have not heard:

There is a WONDERFUL and INSPIRING music video on Youtube.com entitled "Obama Portrait Music Video by Bjarne O."
You can use the free downloaded high-quality stereo version from the composer's website in DVD form to show at house parties and fundraisers. Even people who knew nothing at all about Obama have been moved: either a thrilling introduction, or further inspiration for those of us who already know and fight for Obama.
The music soundtrack, which incorporates excerpts from the famous 2004 speech, can also be downloaded separately in high-quality.

    So please, SPREAD THE WORD!

    YES WE CAN

    Anne

  63. HILLARY WINS! HILLARY WINS!

NOW THE OBAMA PEOPLE WILL HELP HER IN THE GE, RIGHT.

  64. Nevada Obama supporters did great. In spite of "Obama's camp said their backers were receiving telephone calls that made repeated reference to "Barack Hussein Obama." And the Illinois senator told reporters that former President Clinton "seems to be making a habit of mischaracterizing what I say."

I would NEVER vote for Hillary if nominated. That is a message we need to send to the status quo of misinformation dirty politics.

  65. Why would anyone in their right mind want to help Hillary in the GE? She is clearly deceptive, divisive and would be very bad for this country. Why would Anyone want to continue with Bush-Clinton politics and support someone who voted with Bush on the war and failed her health care assignment? Sorry, I'll never trust this country with a Bush or a Clinton again.
