O.J. Simpson is going to prison.
A predominantly white, predominantly female jury has found the former NFL All Star guilty of all of the 12 robbery, kidnapping and weapons charges he faced following a run-in last year with a pair of memorabilia dealers.
His co-accused, Clarence “C.J.” Stewart, was also found guilty of all charges and will do jail time.
Simpson, 61, and Stewart, 54, may spend the rest of their lives in prison. The two charges of kidnapping with use of a deadly weapon, of which they were both convicted, carry a possible life sentence with no parole for five years.
Simpson’s lawyer, Yale Galanter, said he and his client knew there was a good chance the jury would find Simpson guilty. “You would have to be living on another planet to realize this was not a possibility," he said during an impromptu press conference tonight.
Tonight’s decision comes 13 years to the day after another jury declared Simpson not guilty in the double-murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.
A subsequent civil suit found Simpson liable for the deaths, however, and placed a $33.5-million judgment against him.
Galanter declined to say whether or not he considered the absolute verdict “payback,” but he questioned whether or not his client’s past affected his most recent trial.
“It's a sad day for him and a sad day for his family,” Galanter said. "This is not a happy day for anybody.”
Before he was taken away, Simpson expressed concern that he would not be able to see his children graduate from college. He described his state as “melancholy.”
Simpson’s other lawyer, Gabriel Grasso, suggested the verdict and corresponding sentences were excessive. He said Simpson would have received an equally stiff sentence if the football legend had walked into a bank with an AK-47 assault rifle, robbed it and duct taped the people inside. "There's a fairness issue," he said.
After hearing the verdict at 10:55 p.m. Friday, Simpson and Stewart were handcuffed and taken into custody. They are both being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
District Court Judge Jackie Glass will deliver their sentences at 9 a.m. on Dec. 5.
Dressed in a dark suit jacket, white shirt and silver tie, Simpson showed no emotion as the verdict was read. He closed his eyes briefly as court marshals handcuffed him and was listless as he was taken away.
Simpson was notably tense as he arrived at the Clark County Regional Justice Center just after 10:20 p.m. this evening. With him were his daughter, Arnelle, sister, Carmelita Durio, and Tom Scotto, who testified in the trial.
Durio embraced her niece and wept in the courtroom after hearing the verdict. The emotion soon proved too much for Simpson’s sister, who collapsed during the ordeal and had to be attended to by paramedics.
The nine-women and three-man jury started discussing Simpson and Stewart’s fate at 8:30 a.m. this morning. The group elected to stay late Friday evening in effort to reach a conclusion and after nearly 14 hours of discussions, they indicated that they had agreed upon a verdict.
The kidnapping convictions each carry possible life sentences with no parole for five years. The robbery convictions carry mandatory two-year sentences, plus an additional year, at minimum, for use of a deadly weapon. The burglary conviction carries a mandatory two- to 15-year sentence and a possible fine of up to $15,000. The coercion convictions carry mandatory one- to six-year sentences and a possible fine of up to $5,000. The assault convictions carry mandatory one- to six-year sentences and a possible fine of up to $5,000. Conspiracy to commit kidnapping carries a mandatory one- to six-year sentence and a possible fine of up to $5,000. Conspiracy to commit robbery carries a mandatory one- to six-year sentence and a possible fine of up to $5,000. Conspiracy to commit a crime is a gross misdemeanor that carries a possible probationable one-year sentence and/or $2,000 fine.
Simpson’s lawyers are expected to appeal the verdict. They have already moved, unsuccessfully, for several mistrials.
Galanter said an appeal would be his client’s “only hope.”
Galanter complained Glass placed unusual restrictions upon the defense during a trial. "I have never been in a case where I have had my cross examinations as limited as this. ... I think that cross-examinations should be very liberal and wide open. It did not happen in this case."
Stewart’s attorney, Brent E. Bryson, promised to appeal the decision. He and his client’s other lawyers, Robert Lucherini and Charles D. Jones, made several motions to sever their client from the trial, which they alleged was tainted by Simpson’s notorious past and celebrity status.
“If there was ever a case that should have been severed in the history of jurisprudence, it's this case," Bryson said.
Prosecutors made no statements after hearing the verdict, withholding comment until after sentencing.
The trial began on Sept. 15 and over three weeks of proceedings the court heard from 22 different and often colorful witnesses.
Key state witnesses, including alleged gunmen, Michael McClinton and Walter Alexander, provided contradictory testimony.
McClinton said he and Alexander both wielded handguns during the confrontation, but never pointed the weapons at anybody. Alexander said his gun never left his waistband. Both said Simpson asked them to bring the weapons to the raiding party, but Simpson’s lawyers denied their allegations.
One of the victims, Bruce Fromong, and the middleman who arranged the contentious meeting in his hotel room, Thomas Riccio, both said that McClinton pointed his gun directly at them.
Simpson and Stewart never testified, but through their lawyers denied their clients had any knowledge that guns were to be used in what they claimed was intended to be a simple reconnaissance mission.
Simpson’s attorneys said their client and his associates went to the Palace Station on Sept. 13, 2007, to recover personal items that had been stolen from him. The Heisman Trophy winner had no desire to take any items not belonging to him, they said, though the defense acknowledged other memorabilia items -- including 30 to 50 Joe Montana lithographs and 24 baseballs signed by Pete Rose and Duke Snider –- were taken by mistake.
An audio recording of the six-minute altercation secretly taken by Riccio captured the voices of Simpson and others promising to return anything that wasn’t theirs. Prosecutors said several of the items, including the autographed baseballs, were never recovered.
No members of the jury elected to speak publicly about the trial.

I sympathize with the lady and husband, both attornies, frustrated because they could see only limited portions of the OJ trial. Nevertheless they both opined, I assume based on the limited facts they did see (rather than those they wanted to see or hoped they would see) "OJ is inocent." WOW!
Just plane "inocent." Whatever the charges were, or how many, he is "inocent." With out checking, I believe OJ is being tried on at least a dozen seperate charges, any one of which, could result in jail time, fine, or both if he is found to be guilty on that one charge. He's not just either just "inocent" or just "guilty." I think you meant to say you HOPED he was inocent (of as many of the most serious chargesas possible). Just like I HOPE just the oposite! Nothing personal ...with you folks. I just hope he's found guilty of sufficient charges that he spends a whole lota time thinking bout what he's done wit his lif wen the egotistical bastard goes to bed at night know'n he ain't golf'ng the next day.

Yep, the guys with the guns will walk along with all the others and their deals... Hope everyone is happy... OJ was not guilty according to the actual trial...
Reporters on CNN are still reporting the case incorrectly...!!!
Obama must correct this injustice!!!!!!!!!!!
Jackie Glass for President!
I'm no fan of OJ and believe he was guilty of murder. But how the hell can it be robbery to take back something that was stolen from you in the first place?
If someone stole something from me I might go get it back myself especially if I knew law enforcement would be hostile as they surely are with OJ.
The courts have used this opportunity to nail him. Karma? Whatever, Glass and this whole trial stink. He was fixed up from the get go.

Look guys, OJ was really dumb to do what he did. I understand he wanted to get those items for some extra income, but that income would have been hidden from the Goldmans, who deserve a cut of that money.
It's not legal to go up to somebody with a gun and grab stuff from them. Vigilante justice is not a road we as a society can go down. If he was defending his home or his person from invasion/injury, that's one thing, but what he did was illegal.
The right thing to do would be to go to the police and report. They need to take care of it. Anyways how stupid do you have to be to bring a gun into a casino to threaten someone?

Justice for Ron and Nicole.
No more tee times for OJ.
There is karma.
I'm a conservative voting for Obama.
McCain can't be trusted and McCain is an enemy of Nevada since he supports the toxic waste dump of Yucca Mountain while he won't allow the nuclear shipments to travel thru his home state of Arizona. McCain is a hypocrite.
As Las Vegans, we see a lot of garbage come and go through our city. I think OJ felt he was going to be found innocent of all charges. Why? His comments and demeanor showed the attitude that Las Vegas was a backward town, whose police department couldn't rub two pieces of evidence together to make a case against him. He bet on that and lost. Metro stands up alongside the finest agencies in this country and the world, Interpol included. Let OJ's trial be a lesson that you don't come to Las Vegas thinking you can pull off such a scam and that no one will notice. Kudos to Metro and our Judicial system. Judge Glass ran a tight ship and I think her handling of this case will withstand appellate review.
Justice is served...Finally....

I agree with the lawyers in this case & hope there is a successful appeal for both concerned.
All of the "items" had been awarded to other parties in the civil trial. Therefore, NONE of the stuff O.J. snatched belonged to him any longer. I don't get why this is such a difficult concept to grasp.

Hey nkls3713 where else would we put our toxic waste Nevada is perfect you have gambling, prostitution, more foreclosures than anywhere so whats a little nuke water.
What does Obama have to do with anything? If Ombama did get elected, and if he is the man hes says he is, he would not get involved in this case. This is not a presidential issue. OJ was allowed due process. Let me remind the OJ supporters that due process in this case ultimately began OJ making bad decisions. It is kidnapping to not allow a person to leave a room, even if you didn't put them there. Also, if a person goes searching for property taken from them, we have laws dictating how we get the stuff back. OJ chose his own methods. As I see the case, OJ is a very foolish person. God Bless Las Vegas Metro, and the Las Vegas Courts for handling a difficult case well.
He got what he deserved. No more get out of jail free cards!!!!!
The Juice forgot the McDonalds Principle. Find what works and duplicate it. He murdered Ms. Brown and Mr. Goldman and walked. That worked for the Juice; in the present case he tried to re-invent the wheel and failed.

Better to have forty acres and a mule than a senseless war, wasteful government spending, record high gas prices, a recession/depression, the collapse of our financial markets, in other words the Bush Administration.
Where did all the fiscal conservative Republicans go??????????
Why is the government "bailing" out Wall Street execs??????
3wood, we're going to make sure the nuclear railway comes right thru your backyard, so have at the nuclear juice.
McCain can visit OJ in prison since he now trails in Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, former bellweather Republican states.
McCain is now behind in Nevada too.
OJ should have been a police officer, they get away with murder all the time here in Las Vegas. Having ten women on his jury didn't help him. Neither will jackie glass. He got a raw deal.

Enough is enough, those who support OJ are in the minority. A Crime is a crime and OJ has committed two major crimes in his life. He killed his wife and Goldman, he commited assults, and now he robbed, kidnapped and other counts. He thinks he is the Tuflon Don, but even that guy was brought down. The cops, courts, jury and judge did their job. And OJ fell, I don't agree with a life term but I do support a term from 15 to 25 years.
We need to get pass OJ and let him serve his time and the rest of us get on with more important issue that face this nation Enough of OJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is an error to mix this case an the Murder case, if you think it's "Pay Back" you just don't understand the Justice System.
You just can't go and take back something that is taken from you. You file a crime report the police investigate and the offenders are arrested. Simpson need to contact law enforcemnt not take the law into his own hands..

Obama neeeds to fix this injustice that is happening to OJ!!!!!!
maybe acorn will step in.
this is aggregious!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i saw all the removals too......
what were you doing nance, name calling?
or was your post not bland and general enough?
Lets get Subprime Obama in here, he'll clean it up like he cleaned up the banks in chicago.
hey rodriguez,
when your 61 15 to 25 is life, and i am not sure but i don't think he got convicted on that murder rap some years ago. maybe we should check the records or did they forget to sentence him for that?
Anyway,
I just got off the phone with commissioner gordon and he said the streets of gotham city are safe now. Ain't that vickie vale cute?
i have no idea if oj is / was guilty, but i do know that a jury of all white people is not a representation of our community. where are the asians? blacks? mexicans? hmmm.... makes me wonder, since i'm white would my jury consist of every other race but white people?
fortunately, we can make our voices heard when the d.a. and the judge is up for re-election.
last, but not least, like it or not, oj and mr. stewart will be free in the future. there are so many reasons for an appeal and a new trial.
No name calling...
OJ was found not guilty for murders.
Now, he has been set up and will die in prison for trying to get his stolen goods back.
This is an injustice.
Obama must fixed this injustice!!!!!!!
Obama will stand by and do nothing.
Seriously,
OJ never had a chance with these white chick soccer mom jurors.
Panpada you r right,
he should stick with murder and murder-related activities, i've always said stick with what you know and what you love. Armed robbery just ain't his bag fer sure, i mean, one small job and he got nailed on twelve counts, what a rookie.
true rebel fan - There were two Hispanics on the jury; and two African American alternate jurors. The court went to extraordinary efforts to find impartial jurors. Justice was served.
(Removed by the site staff)
OJ will probably end up dead in prison.
Is that justice for just trying to get his stuff back?
Obama needs to fix this it.
Obama please fight for OJ!!!!!

Let's get this straight...OJ Simpson did in fact kill Ron and Nicole according to the Civil Trial and the Goldman's were awarded all his "PROPERTY and CASH to the tune of $38M. Why would OJ think anyone on this earth would not understand that he was blowing smoke on "TRYING TO GET HIS STUFF BACK?" HIS stuff? NO...He hid HIS stuff to keep it from the Goldman's. This was the most compelling evidence in the trial that was NOT allowed by the judge. Galanter has the nerve to say he was "SQUEEZED" by being limited in his defense by the court and therefore he wants to appeal? Give me a break....Here is the way it would go down in the REAL world. ...OJ finds out someone has his stuff and he says Ok set up the meeting and when we get there we will have a cop arrest them in the room. No guns, no gangsters no SCREAMING "What the bleep are you doing to me STEALING MY stuff!" etc....
Now on Saturday Night Live...here's the spin...
OJ shows up with the Thugs and says "HEY! Give me that stuff back...it belongs to the Goldman's!! How can you take this from the poor man. I mean it's bad enough I killed his son...Give me that back right now you thief! Then OJ gets on his cell and calls Mr Goldman to break the good news that after 13 years he found his stuff to give him back...Do any of you people get this or am I the only one. STOP using the race card...Obama was mentioned here Give me a break. Nobodody feels sorry for OJ and Justice finally was served because despite his prior history, he got caught on all counts because he commited the crimes and was lucky the jury did not hear the testimony on how he hid all this stuff for years and NOW he wants HIS stuff back that in fact belongs to the Goldman's
VERDICT: GUILTY as Charged!
Obama Who? He will lose to Hillary Clinton when she surprise the Nation by being a last minute Independent WRITE IN Candidate which is the only way this country will ever survive. Obama is a Paper Tiger. He will blow away in the next hurricane and then we would have BIDEN ...Wow...what great choices....
HILLARY CLINTON for Prez....and on OJ, he is finally getting a taste of his own Medicine. The jury watched his demeanor as we did...Rolling his eyes back, smiling, shaking his head, arrogance, a crooked bunch of Lawyers defending his guilt...it was all just a repeat of the other trial...and what's up with DUDE grinding his teeth where his Jaw looks like it is going to erupt through his cheek any minute? Oj had issues and now faces even bigger ones. And what's sad is he was a great football player and idol to many, me included, until one day when faced what many of us are faced with, divorce, it all went wrong. Love, Happiness to All...Hug your kids, Love your wives and husbands and God will heal all wounds....OJ will be missed but he had it coming and we all need to pray for him.
For all you pitifuls who sympathize with this murderer check out this website. WARNING: It might hurt your sentitive eyes...graphic.

or how about this one:
http://www.members.tripod.com/~VanessaWe...
Also... Just a comment on the attorney who said it's not a happy day for anybody.... Oh yes it is!! It's a happy day for the Goldmans and Nicole's family, the Browns. It's a very happy day.
The system of justice said OJ was not quilty of those murders.
Now, people are mad that he "got away with murder'.
So they set up OJ and all he wanted was his stuff back.
This is a grave injustice.
Obama we need you to undo this injustice and fight for OJ!!!!!!
Finally maybe OJ will begin to believe that he is NOT above the law. I hope he gets put away for a very long time.
COMMENT "I"M GONNA NEED A BAILBONDSMAN" PROVES OJ"S STATE OF MIND AND INTENT AND PROVES HIS INNOCENCE
the comment OJ made returning to his room right after the event PROVES his state of mind and intent to PROVE his innocence, which despite jury instructions, a jury MUST consider....and I'm not biased..i am applying logic instead of emotion, which is also what the jury was supposed to do despite the judges instructions
when OJ stated on tape, not knowing he was being recorded returning to his room after the event "i'm gonna need a bailbondsman" it PROVES his state of mind of innocence.....if he had planned a robbery with guns as the state alleges, then unless things didn't go according to plan in recovering the items, there would have been no reason whatsoever for him to say that......except it didn't go according to plan BECAUSE guns came out... because OJ never planned or conspired for any guns to be present...that proves he did not plan it the way it was alleged....
if he had planned it with guns there was no reason for him to say "i'm gonna need a bail bondsman" right after the event because there wasn't anything that did or didn't happen to cause him to be concerned in the least when they retrieved the items: they went in , brandished the weapons, got the stuff and left (the plan according to the prosecution). If they had planned/conspired a robbery thats exactly how they would have planned it and thats exactly how the conspirators would have wanted it to go down; get in, brandish the guns and get out........ So why would he have worried about a bailbondsman right after the event? Because he HAD NOT planned a robbery with guns and when he realized thats what actually happened, that guns WERE there, he slumped to his room after the event and said on the tape (it was the prosecution that said OJ did not know he was being recorded at that time) for all to hear" I"M GONNA NEED A BAILBONDSMAN". It goes directly to his state of mind and intent.
on another matter, glass displayed contempt for the defense throughout the trial..their mere presence and the fact they would take up her time and the courts with an annoying not guilty plea......an example of this was when detective campbell lied under oath on purpose about the scottos getting thrown out of the prelim and witness tampering, prompting a mistrial motion by the defense. Then glass directed her anger at the defense when it was the DA that had their witness lie in an attempt to influence the jury. Lying with the right jury obviously can be a sucessful strategy. Especially with a judge that displays contempt for due process... What is it with you people in the clark county judgeship circuit? no wonder halverson and glass are in the same jurisdiction.
i think the radiation venting down from the nevada test site is affecting everyones brain out there
The letter of the law and instructions provided to the jury dictates the guidelines used by the jury. Blame the law for being vague and absolute. Emotion and feeling had nothing to do with the decision made by the jury. I think OJ was framed and got a raw deal, but he is guilty according to the law.
OJ is getting a raw deal.
Obama needs to fix this.
This is just another example of the black man get railroaded.
I HAVE SENT SEVRAL COMMENTS NON EHAVE BEEN PUBLISHED BECAUSE I SAY IT LIKE IT IS THIS WAS THE BIGGEST ENTRAPMENT CASE IN NEVADA HISTORY .OJ.WAS SET UP AND YOU NEVANIANS COULD CARE LESS..IT COULD BE YOU NEXT..!!
I agree obama stands by and does nothing
OJ WAS SET UP ON THIS!!!!!!!!
EVEN THE GUY THAT SET HIM UP ADMITS IT!!!!!!!!!!
OBAMA NEEDS TO STEP IN AND DEAL WITH THIS!!!!!
OJ WAS NOT EVER CONVICTED OF MURDER
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GOLDMANS
OJ WAS SET UP FROM BEGINNING
OBAMA NEEDS TO GET INVOLVED!!!!
oh, they will start to care all right..........as the water continues to become depleted, as the valley continues to rift and crack and settle, and when almost every house in town is in foreclosure and values continue to fall off the cliff, and when the exposure to radiation catches up to everyone, and when the casinos dry up and blow away in the comming depression!
Then the idiot las vegans will get it...............but maybe not!!!
(Removed by the site staff)
O J's "freedom certificate" of 13years has expired. Do the time and be grateful you had 13 more years than the other murderers!
O.J. is a stupid idiot-plain & simple. He's gonna spend years in the slammer-OVER SPORTS MEMORABILIA. I find it amazing how people do dumb things without thinking of the consequences of their actions.
I think that's garbage. This time, he was innocent of anything but bad judgment.
In the room he said:
"Don't take anything that's not mine!"
He went too far, and he was stupid, but I don't think he realized that people were going to pull out guns. And kidnapping? Please.
BOY I SENT ANOTHER ONE DELETED BECAUSE OF MY RIGHT TO COMMENT!NEVADA IS SO CORRUTPT I MEAN REALLY CORRUPT.225,000 THIS GUY GOT FOR HIS TAPES AND HIS STORY.THE POLICE SET HIM UP AND COP STATED YOU ARENT GOING TO GET OUT OF IT LIKE CALIF.HOW YOU CAN THINK THIS WAS A HONEST TRIAL.JUST THINK IT MIGHT B EYOU OR YOUR FAMILY NEXT TIME..SEE HOW QUICK A ENTRAPMENT CAN HAPPEN!WHEN I WORKED FOR SHERIFF IN IOWA THEY SET SOMEONE UP PLANTING POT IN CAR THAT KID IS STILL IN PRISON.IF WE DONT STAND UP FOR OUR RIGHTS WE WONT HAVE THEM .
OJ WAS FOUND NOT GULTY IN CALIF.WHAT DONT YOU UNDERSTAND BY NOT GULTY..AND THAT ONE THING THAT SHOULD BE OBLISHED IF YOUR FOUND NOT GULTY YOU CANT GET A TRAIL FOR GETTING SOME ONES GOODS.
PLEASE STAND UP FOR RIGHTS!THIS JUDGE ONLY LET THINGS IN THAT THEY SET UP HIM FOR
AND I COULDNT BE ON A TRIAL(JURY) BECAUSE I WAS WORKING FOR SHERIFF WHY SHOULD JURY THERE BE IANY DIFFERENT.CAUSE THE FIX WAS IN!!!
I would have accepted the OJ robbery/conspiracy/kidnapping verdicts - but - having been a juror in Ms. Glass' courtroom - she is as corrupt as they come. She is also immature and indecisive. She is totally on the side of the police. I can't imagine anyone getting a "fair trial" with Ms. Glass. I think the cops could kill her children for fun - and she'd still side with law enforcement. Therefore, I am very suspicious of these verdicts. So the happy people who refuse to let go of the murders 14 years ago believe OJ got his just due? Yeah, maybe for the murders - he probably did it - but let's be honest about it: he was convicted of killing his wife and Mr. Goldman - 14 years after the fact and in a different jurisdiction. All I can agree with in this case is he "disturbed the peace," and possibly, "conspired" to commit a felony - that's it. I'm certain Judge Glass will sentence him to the maximum as that will gain her that needed attention she is desperate for. Gee - it might also help in her re-election bid although I don't think anyone is running against her - how cute!
WOW JUST HEARD THIS AND NOW TELL ME THE FIX WASNT IN
13 YRS TO DAY OF LAST VERDICT AND JURY WAS OUT FOR 13 HOURS NOW IF THAT WASNT THE FIX
WELL NOW WE CAN SAY ABOUT VEGAS THE FIX STATE
THEY CAN PUT ON TV NOW COME TO STATE THE FIX PUT THAT ON YOUR LICENSE PLATES THE FIX IS IN STATE.
I DO FEEL SORRY FOR THE GOOD COPS WHO WANT TO BE GOOD BUT THERE TO MANY THAT ARE CORRUPT AND JUDGES .I WONDER HOW MUCH JACKIE AND THE COPS WHO DID THE FIX GOT??I AM SURE YOU CAN SEE WHAT THEY BUY FOLLOW THE MONEY!!THAT GUY ALREADY GOT 225,000 AND NO CHARGES.LETS SEE WHAT OTHERS GET THE BIG FIX MONEY?
HE REALIZED AFTER THE FACT THERE WERE GUNS THAT WHY HE SAID I NEED A BAILBONSMAN NOT KNOWIN HIS FREIND SET HIM UP WITH TAPES ETC.WOW YOU ALL CANT SEE THAT I GUESS CAUS EI DID WORK FOR JUDCIAL SYETEM I CAN SEE MORE CLEAR.WHAT A SHAME .THIS IS NOT JUSTICE IT A HANGING ..COME ON GUYS LOAD EMAILS TO JURY SYSTEM TELL THEM WHAT U THINK I HAVE.SEND THEM TO PROSCUTOR.STAND UP LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD.
ONE JUROR WAS ACOP MY GOSH!!!
Ok,
1. This was NOT a jury of OJ's peers, therefore their was a basic denial of his constitutional rights.
2. This should have never gone to trial. If the police had not been called the situation would have been settled with justice.
3. The Judge should be removed from office. If there is no proceedure to do so, then perhaps all the voters should make sure that she is gone the next chance they get.
4. The prosecutor made out a list of charges which reads like a David Letterman joke list and one which makes the whole state appear to be laughable. He has insulted all the citizens of Nevada.
5. OJ was stopped on his way to LV and the trial on a complaint that he was a drunk driver, of course he wasn't, but the rest of the case was equally ludicrous.
6. Lots of stuff has been said on this board, hey, I think mostly people understand that this is a serious miscarriage of justice.
7. In a time of bad economy, the improper expenditure of funds from taxation is a criminal matter and perhaps the legal folks should be prosecuted for misappropriation of funds.
8. The whole thing is so plainly ridiculous that surely the appeals process will be successful.
Ok, enough!
nevadafive you nailed it.....i've never set foot in your desert hell-hole much less served as a juror in her courtroom as you have, but on tv glass comes across as immature, demonstrative, anti-defense, and a bit of a camera-whore. And I have no doubt regarding the corruption. corruption is what keeps the Vegas Valley strong. Why, how could anyone think otherwise about a city that exists for GAMBLING and PROSTITUTION. Silly me!
and thats no way to treat your fellow man during the days of atonement......violating the commandment thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor........i guess she'll deal with that in the real big house that lies ahead............
as will the rest of those humps
Life is like poker, you need to know when to "Hold Them and Fold Them". O.J Simpson and some of us Americans in financial crisis just never learned to play. Fundamental rules apply, such as "Buy-Lo...Sell-Hi" and "Don't Live over your means" and stuff like, Save for rainy day"...how about this one, "If you get away with murder, take your 25 thousand dollar a month retirement, move to Costa Rica and chill for life. I never finished High School, however I have "Beat and Won the Life Game", only with basic rules and "common sense"..Now "If I did it" then this is how "I did it"...Here this bit of basic "food for thought!" On or about the time O.J. Simpson gets out jail, money will be worthless by todays standard. Buy silver and "Hold em"
OJ is an example of a black man that is getting railroaded by the system.
Obama should fight for OJ because the system needs to be fixed.
"Ok,
1. This was NOT a jury of OJ's peers, therefore their (sic) was a basic denial of his constitutional rights."
You are right, but it is hard to find 12 people that have murdered two people each and been acquitted of said murders, plus alternative jurors.
WHY DOESNT ANY ONE FEEL SORRY FOR CJ STEWART? MAYBE HE WAS IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME JUST LIKE RON GOLDMAN
Thirteen years ago, one "freak show" occurred in L.A. and yesterday, another "freak show" came to a close. All the while, blacks looked upon the L.A. event as "a victory" for all blacks as a whole. WRONG !!! Speak for yourselves. I am a black man. Permit me to make myself perfectly clear...
Mr. Simpson is not my "brother". He's everyone's sick brother. If anybody's paradigm views the plight of Mr. Simpson as having anything to do with race, creed, ad nauseum, I feel sorry for you.
ALL of us, are God's children and we are ALL accountable for our OWN actions, and ours ONLY, save our children. I cannot be held responsible for what my neighbour thinks, says or does, however, after all is said & done, it's obvious God works in mysterious ways. Am I happy about the verdict? No. Am I sad about the verdict? No. Do I care? Yes.
Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God's universe by mistake. Instead of looking at life in terms of "good & bad", "right or wrong", "just or unjust", who am I to judge or complain about God's will and handiwork? How can I say I trust God, so long as he does what I think is right? No, instead, I do what I believe in my heart is the RIGHT thing to do. I leave the results up to HIM. Some may say, "Look at what happened "TO" Mr. Simpson?" No, I say, "Look at what has happened as a result of the ACTIONS of Mr.Simpson.
C'mon y'all...for goodness sake! O.J. is a big boy now, he KNEW exactly what he tried to perpetrate and he was CAUGHT.
Regardless of the colour of the largest organ of the human anatomy...yes, our skin, I think it's important we TRY to exist on a much deeper plane than skin. Despite my up-teen flaws, I try to identify, rather than compare, but hey, what would I know? I know I am NOT in jail. I know I don't have to look over my shoulder while I walk down the streets. To have a clear conscience truly is a blessing that I am very grateful for.
Hey, O.J. did what he did, and he was the one who made several conscious decisions to pursue these decisions. Now, he is being held accountable for them, pure & simple.
Enough outta me, Godspeed to you all.
I have never seen so many dumb comments. Juice and his henchmen broke into a hotel room and stole property that was in the possession of individuals who may or may not have been the rightful owners. The property may or may not have been the property of Juice, however this does not give Juice the right break into a individual's room and hold the people hostage while he takes what he claims what was his property. Once again Juice shows how dumb he is.
Fair or not, I hope that he gets life, because he beat the system once, he could not beat it again. Juice enjoy your vacation, however where you are going I don't think that there are any golf courses.
If you read the jury instructions, the definition of the charges and watched the testimony as the jurors did, you would find Mr. Simpson guilty too.
Although I believe he was set up, he is guilty according to the laws of Nevada.
Guilty or not is beside the point, you don't go and take things back in this manner. If he wanted them that bad then he should have found another avenue that would have kept him out of trouble.
I guess the gloves fit this time!
Hey, Lenny. Learn some facts: That garbage was not stolen from convict Simpson. Nope, ugh ugh. Convict Simpson received some inside information from the Santa Monica Sheriff's Department that the pick-up order for the memorabilia was set to be on the next morning. So, convict Simpson, Kathy Randa, sister Simpson and fellow trade enthusiast Mike Gilbert, illegally had it all removed before the Sheriff's van arrived the next morning, storing it all in a storage facility in northern CA. Convict Simpson, after years of paying the storage bills, suddenly stopped and Mike Gilbert took his garbage back. The jury didn't know any of this and yet still found the evidence to convict on all 12 counts. Pretty great Las Vegas jury, if you ask me.
BTW: all that was left was picked up at Rockingham and wound up at Butterworth's Auction house and the proceeds went to satisfy the 33.5 million dollar judgment. So, you have compound thefts going on, all from the victims' families, the Browns and the Goldmans.
"i've never set foot in your desert hell-hole"
Well, larryDICKman, I suggest then that you have absolutely no basis on which to insult my hometown. Go away. You smell up the place.

YES-a desert hell-hole
RPJ whats the deal with:
House prices falling off the cliff in your wonderful community?
Your wholesome community that exists primarily for GAMBLING?
The healthy living one gets living 70 miles downwind from massive amounts of radiation and nuclear waste?
A climate fit for no one?
Rapidly lowering water levels in Lake Mead?
And your corrupt judicial racket in clark county?
larrydickman.....the name says it all! You're a "Richard" for sure! Surprised you're reading a Las Vegas paper. I bet you have a PHD in sarcasm from Classless U. Good for you! Your community's proud of you, I'm sure. You can say what you want about me, I have a life, and will not be reading anymore about O J and your ridiculous comments. O J is where he belongs!
THE ONLY ONE GETTING A RAW DEAL IS THE TAXPAYER IN NEVADA FOR HOUSING OJ. MAYBE OBAMA SHOULD GET INVOLVED AND HAVE HIM MOVED TO A FEDERAL PRISON AND LET CALIFORNIA AND FLORIDA HELP PAY FOR HIS "SPECIAL HOUSING "
A jury of peers would imply at least the presence of a number of African Americans. If the judge does not understand the dynamics of racism and the variety of effects of these attitudes, then perhaps she should be removed for judicial misconduct and incompetence. Today the information came out that at least 5 of the jurors thought that OJ murdered his wife and her buddy. Hmm, sounds like any shadow of fairness has been thrown out the window. Good luck to the Judge if you think this will be upheld!
larryDICKman, Las Vegas is the only honest city left. I have 42 years of residency and first-hand knowledge to back up my statements. You, on the other hand, are another useless, anonymous Internet coward speaking from a mouth ten times bigger than your brain. You wouldn't last five minutes in Las Vegas - so it's with pleasure that I note you have never been here. We don't want you.
PS: life is a gamble ... And?
Let's look at a jury of peers.
We are all Americans.
We are all equal.
To say that OJ wasn't represented by his peers is bogus.
There were 12 equal Americans on the jury.
Race has nothing to do with a jury that is American and equal, or are some people more equal than others?
OJ got his just desserts, 14 years late, but he finally got nailed. He is a low life criminal who hangs out with low life criminals. It is time for him to pay for his crimes, like people do every day in the court system who do NOT have millions to buy attorneys and to ultimately 'buy' their freedom! His free ride is OVER! Hopefully, he will stay in prison for life and we all hope when he closes his eyes every night, he sees Nicloe and Ron's faces as they lay bleeding and dying!! Good luck in your new home in Las Vegas, OJ! You're going to need it!! It couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy!!
Karma, what a wonderful thing. All I want to know is why are they keeping him segregated? He deserves the same treatmeant that any other hardned crimnal gets. Now that what I call unjustice.
Wow, all of you humans out there are willing to be the judge! There is only one judge in the end who can see our strengths and weaknesses. Yes, it was not a jury of his peers, we are a segregated, bigoted people which is part of our human condition. To deny that is fallacious, to embrace it and to apply those lessons in a way can mitigate it and to allow justice to flow. Whites and blacks are different culturally. There should have been balance on the jury. I think the jury questionaires provide clear evidence that none of these jurors should have been seated. I know they said that they did not think about their convictions that he was a murderer - yet at least 5 of them operated in that context. Ok, enough! And stop the name calling and offering unknown things as evidence!
Jury speaks - they're a bunch of mind numb lemmings which follow the the justice department/judge tells the they must do and how they must do it. What a crock of #@#$. The whole purpose of having a jury is to determine if the person should be found guilty not to look at technicality of some law. There would be no purpose of having a jury if that's what they are supposed to do. Their (our) job is to find people innocent if we don't agree with the law or we don't think what the person did rises up to the intent of the law.
Well the jury did admirably. This isn't a media hype. The moron took the law into his own hands, threatened a man so he could gain some ill-gotten booty, and basically acted above the law. Great job jury.
BTW-Obama has NOTHING to do with OJ. It's borderline racist to claim Obama should help OJ. Why? Hmmm, the Juice is black, Obama's black. Well obviously they have SO much in common, Obama should just help a fellow black man out.
This would be on par with saying Scooter Libby should be let off by W. because they're both white.
