Don’t blame Dems for bailout failure

OK, here’s the recap: The Democrats and Republicans worked long hours to craft a truly bipartisan bailout bill — praising each other for rising above politics during the process.

A majority of Democrats voted in favor of this bipartisan effort, while Republicans voted against it by a margin of more than 2 to 1.

So who’s to blame for its failure to pass? The Democrats, of course!

Republican presidential nominee John McCain blames Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, while Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner blames Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

After eight years of this administration’s repeated ineptness in every field of government endeavor, are there really any Americans left who still buy the Republicans’ shameless spin?

The Liberal Socialist Democratic (LSD) is responsible for the financial instability going on right now.

The bailout should not have been necessary if liberal operatives hadn't cooked the books for massive raises - liberal legislators continually protected the liberal financial theorem of effecting mortgages for those who could never pay it back - and finally for continual lying about their socialist ways and means as the FM system got too bloated with bad mortgages.

We have seen, in President Bush's eight years, FAR better governance than anything we'll see if the liberals get their socialist elected.

The Democrat can pass anything they want in the House. They didn't pass this Liberal Economic Election Theft Act of 2008.

Don't blame the liberal? That is the only place blame resides!

The House is controlled by the Democrats.

Pelosi and Obama failed to convince enough Democrats (95 voted against) to vote for the bill.

Obama has done zero to help this bill.

Doing zero or phoning it in is not leadership.

Pelosi knew she needed lots of Republican help.

So to get their votes she pissed on them.

That is stupid.

Being stupid is not leadership.

"The Democrat can pass anything they want in the House. They didn't pass this Liberal Economic Election Theft Act of 2008." Are you forgetting the President's VETO power? I guess you don't realize REPUBLICANS wrote and asked for support of the REPUBLICAN bailout.

LOL, You have got to be joking. You must be one of the 30% supporting Bush. 70% of Americans DISAPPROVE of Bush's presidency. If people voted soley on comparing Bush's economy to Clinton's economy, then Democrats would win with a landslide.

Sorry Nance, Obama is not the president YET. It is up to the president to garner support for his own proposal. Democrats voted in majority for a REPUBLICAN plan. Republicans went against their own leadership to vote it down.

Still playing the blame game - still not accomplishing anything by doing so - once people come to terms with who's fault it was then what? Will everything be suddenly better?

Good point azsk8. I go for the line of the TWO parties at to varying degrees responsible for the mess. I really don't care about timelines, acts, and other minute details. I don't care about divying up percentages of who's at fault. Let the history books/later congresses deal with that issue. Right now the NATION, not the parties, needs help. Our leaders need to put behind this acrimony, sit down TOGETHER, and hammer out a compromise plan.
In fact I propose that we the constituents find all the congressmen including Obama and McCain, and seal them inside the Capitol Building until something is done. We can even be nice and install a lazy Susan/tray slot to give them food and whatnot. Let's git 'er done, and then we can play the blame game. Basically I'll be Dad for a second and say that they can go outside and play once and only once their chores are done. They should probably also bring their sleeping bags and jam-jams because they might have to sleep over for the night.
