Letter to the editor:
History on the side of the Democrats
Thu, Sep 25, 2008 (2:01 a.m.)
After Republican Herbert Hoover’s disastrous term in the White House and the Great Depression, America looked to the party that ended World War I and brought prosperity to the nation to save the country from extinction. America elected a Democrat, whose party was held in contempt by the isolationist Republican Party, to lead us out of the Depression.
FDR’s brilliant economic policy saved this country. He wisely chose government programs such as the Works Progress Administration and the Civilian Conservation Corps to bring us out of the mess created by the Republican isolationists.
If one were honest, one would realize that stands in stark contrast to the failed policies of the so-called commander in chief, President Bush, who can’t win the war he started against a tiny nation, Iraq. Let us not forget that when FDR died he was succeeded by Harry Truman, who ended World War II.
I hope that Americans are smart and are looking to a Democrat who will end the failed war in Iraq and bring us real economic prosperity like so many of his predecessors.

George Bush will be remembered as the most hated American President in the history of the world. He will also be rememberred as the president who was responsible for a 2nd Great Depression, this time in the 21st Century.
He is an incompetent, bungling, moronic fool who has no business in the White House. He and Dick Cheney should be impeached for malfeasance in office and sent to prison for the greed and fraud they have perpetrated upon the American people. They have enriched themselves and selected cronies wile the American public has suffered with 10 trillion dollars in debt to be paid by future generations.
You are spot on Vestni!!
So, I guess we can look forward to:
1) American Citizens being rounded up and herded into camps out of senseless political fear and Democrat racism?
2) Economic policies which exacerbate and lengthen what economic hardships may be in store for America - as FDR's lengthened the "Great (might have been the "Mild") Depression"? Well, the Democratic HAS been doing that for decades anyway.
3) Running 40-50% deficits annually, instead of the 3-4% Bush signed after Congress passed them?
George Bush will be remembered very, very well in history. The liberal and the virulent politics-of-hate they espouse - as opposed to the Democrat FDR was - can find its home under the bus!
FDR would be Zell Miller today. JFK would be John McCain. THAT is how far away the modern-day Democratic has fallen from their roots, as racist and economically impotent as they are in this time.
Yeah dems are racist. That's why half the republicans feel the need to address Obama as Hussein.
In any case, what happened to budget balancing republicans who were the stewards of fiscal responsibility? It seems they've lost their way too.
Also a recent poll found that most historians do not agree that Bush was a great president.
Since 2006, surveys of professional historians have given the Bush presidency low marks. A 2006 Siena College poll of 744 professors reported the following results:[123]
"George W. Bush has just finished five years as President. If today were the last day of his presidency, how would you rank him? The responses were: Great: 2%; Near Great: 5%; Average: 11%; Below Average: 24%; Failure: 58%."
"In your judgment, do you think he has a realistic chance of improving his rating? Two-thirds (67%) responded no; less than a quarter (23%) responded yes; and 10% chose no opinion or not applicable."
Thomas Kelly, professor emeritus of American studies at Siena College, said: "President Bush would seem to have small hope for high marks from the current generation of practicing historians and political scientists. In this case, current public opinion polls actually seem to cut the President more slack than the experts do." Dr. Douglas Lonnstrom, Siena College professor of statistics and director of the Siena Research Institute, stated: "In our 2002 presidential rating, with a group of experts comparable to this current poll, President Bush ranked 23rd of 42 presidents. That was shortly after 9/11. Clearly, the professors do not think things have gone well for him in the past few years. These are the experts that teach college students today and will write the history of this era tomorrow."[123]
ps that was wikipedia
Holy freaking cow. Where did you go to school?
1) Democrats got us into WWI, Wilson wanted a fight. He believed a war would be good for the American soul and that it would also be used to bolster support for progressive politics and the centralization of federal power.
2) During WWI Democrats suspended civil rights, arrested thousands, and imprisoned hundreds...FOR PROTESTING THE WAR. Bush, as moronic as he is, hasn't done that.
3) It was Waren G. Harding, a Republican, who restored civil rights, pardoned protestors (including communists) and restored America to normalcy by ending some federal controls over the economy that ushered in the prosperity of the 20s.
4). Herbert Hoover created an alphabet soup of government programs to try and arrest the depression. It failed.
5) And, OH by the way, the Federal Reserve, created under the D's tenure to stop bank runs from happening...FAILED in 1929 to do just that. WE WERE REGULATING and the REGULATION FAILED...just like it has today.
6) FDR came to power and renamed Hoover's programs and added more. The Depression lasted 4 times longer than any in US history...before or since.
Regulation hasn't worked. You're living in a fantasy land, history doesn't support a thing you've said.
Why does Obama's sheeple NEED to deny his middle name? His mother and father gave it to him. HUSSEIN! Why is it racist to mention his own middle name? It is not. Was it racist to give him that middle name?
I usually don't go there because it is boring on-line smack, but it SURE touched you off.....
Obama once expressed how he could not disown Jeremiah Wright any more than he could disown his own white grandmother. THEN, he disowned Wright within the week. Obama had Muslim women who were on the podium at an event about 2-3 months ago REMOVED, because they looked and dressed too Muslim. WHAT and WHY is he hiding his Muslim heritage? Why do the Obama-sheep call it Racism? His middle name IS A FACT!

"College faculties, long assumed to be a liberal bastion, lean further to the left than even the most conspiratorial conservatives might have imagined, a new study says.
By their own description, 72 percent of those teaching at American universities and colleges are liberal and 15 percent are conservative, says the study being published this week. The imbalance is almost as striking in partisan terms, with 50 percent of the faculty members surveyed identifying themselves as Democrats and 11 percent as Republicans."
Polling college professors on Republican political figures is senseless. The link is from 2005, but nothing has changed since the 70s.

Even "wikipedia" says "wikipedia" should not be used as an only source in any type of research.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:R...
Find out what the originator of "wikipedia" has to say about using his own creation as an only source?
http://chronicle.com/wiredcampus/article...
Citing uber-liberal college professors polling what they think of George W. Bush - and the debunked-as-a-source "wikipedia", then making a new post to say that's from "wikipedia" = well, thanks for the laugh!
Try and lib-screed better next time, OK?
Hey genius, #1, you were the one calling dems racist. I was calling it as is. Meaning that many republicans only call Obama by his middle name which is disingenuous. Is there another Obama running in which we would need to differentiate them? I'm not ashamed of that name, but evidently republicans consistently feel the need to remind everybody what it is, which says something. For crying out loud we aren't calling McCain by his middle name, because middle names are irrelevent.
#2 you were the one saying history will remember bush fondly. I was pointing out that at least according to that poll, historians won't, and they are the ones who write the history books. I was just citing what I remembered seeing. And yes while wikipedia is not the most reliable source, there are tid bits that you can't pass up.
NVMakz, WAKE UP
It's 2008, NOT 1929, NOT 1940.
All of your arguments are old and out-dated and have nothing to do with the here and now just like McCain!
Vote Obama08
I guess Hussein is going to get us into WWIII to get us out of economic downturn like FDR did.
Most (if not all) economist that believe that preparing and getting us into WWII is what turned around US economic problems.
Note to JustTheFacts: The letter to the Sun is saying Obama is doing do what FDR did after the great depression. You are the one that is being off topic.
"Hey genius, #1, you were the one calling dems racist."
Show me where I used Obama's middle name in a racist context? Show this to me! Mentioning Obama's middle name as HUSSEIN is not racist at all - since it IS HIS MIDDLE NAME, but racism seems front-&-center of your thinking, isn't it, liberal??
xxxx
" I was calling it as is."
IMO, you wouldn't know "it" if it smacked you in the head with a 2X4. You're one of the weakest debaters I've seen here since I've joined. "AS it is", is you being wiped out
xxxx
" Meaning that many republicans only call Obama by his middle name which is disingenuous."
Do you know what disingenious MEANS?? here's some help:
http://www.yourdictionary.com/disingenuo...
It is straightforward and not an intentional "mistake" to call his middle name as HUSSEIN, due to the fact that is it. Your sorry attacks on this issue actually make YOU the racist. Trying to inoculate this political puppy by calling this FACT "racist" is racism in MY face. Racist, thy name IS liberal! In actuality, you are calling Obama's parents racist due to the FACT they gave a middle name you consider racist to utter!
Now, first you say "I" was doing this, which I had not - then as worthless lib-filler, you lump me in with "many" Republicans doing this = while illustrating NOTHING in support. Just worthless bandwidth waste.

You're so under the bus now, I can barely read you! Bush WILL be treated kindly by real, non-partisan historians. I guess you're saying that liberal-brainwashed "historians" will keep on lying into the future. Once some time and context of the Bush Presidency has gone on, he will be treated well.
I agree with the other poster above = what school did you go to?
xxxx
Using "wikipedia" as single source material is a joke, as the ease of ripping your post above to shreds illustrated.
IMO, the only part of your postings today that haven't been laughable was calling me "Genius #1". It is the only thing you are drowning in kool-aid about.
It simply doesn't work that "because you type, you argue". You need to add some meat to all those potatos. There has not been any yet!
JFinance, actually there are several economists who don't believe the economy actually recovered until after the war.
Think about this, the wartime economy is producing goods for war. War goods, like bullets are destroyed in combat.
That means the resources going into production for wartime can't be used to produce goods for peoples private lives. On top of that, the wealth that was created "bullets" are destroyed after use. Its like wasting time.
Yes people had jobs, but if the governments function (or the economy) was to just create jobs then we could outlaw automobiles and make everyone carry supplies on their back to ship things to and from each American city.
Just creating jobs DOES NOT create wealth.
After the war, price and wage controls were lifted, international trade resumed, and American manufactures were producing goods and services Americans could buy to improve their life.
That is what restored our economy. Either way you look at it, FDR's policies did sqaut. I think you'll agree with that.
History was that isolationists won and foreign trade was shutdown.
The money supply was contracted.
We have a party reversal now that DEMs want to stop Trade.
FDR's chose government programs that "may" work. Any that quickly did not work were dropped and replace with another effort.
FDR should be credited with the quick dropping and replace of program
Redferret,
Again, NPRI wrote about this issue, and thanks to the book "Cult of the Presidency" I agree...Bush will probably be remembered fondly by Historians. http://npri.org/blog/the-cult-of-the-pre...
Historians tend to favor warmongering presidents and presidents who grab a hold of power and expand it.
BTW, at one time Truman was look at as a failure, today he's considered a sucess...and that its only been 50 years.

Hey, "JustTheKoolAid":
Poupard wants America to return to the good-ole days of FDR's Socialism - like locking citizens in camps, making economic hard-times last longer than they should and running deficits 10-12 TIMES larger than what had been previously - in order to develop the "New, Really New Deal", lol!! THEN, to help America emerge from such Democrat-aided misery, they might start a war of their own. you know, to help the economy they destroyed. Something like that!
I'd been reading your kool-aided statements around here, which have been what I thought of as a joke / satire on your part = but it isn't, is it??
Wow, nice come back, are we at the rubber/glue phase now?
In any case, I used disingenuous correctly and spelled it correctly, keep hoping for that speel checker man. Many republicans are trying to cast Obama as a Muslim (nothing wrong with Muslims anyways) which isn't true, and they do that with every utterance of him not as Barrack Obama, but as simply Hussein. That is what several republicans have called him. Not Barrack Hussein Obama, but just Hussein. As said before, is there or has there been another Obama that's running that would require us to differentiate between the two? This is just a pathetic attempt to make Obama seem to be some foreign Muslim trying to run for president (which there is nothing wrong with that), but they try to use it to scare people. Hell at the office I even heard a republican say that Barrack is ethnically Muslim, hahaha. Wow, what's next ethnic Christians?
I do not see the big deal. Hussein is his name.
If he is ashamed of it then he should go to court and get it change.
How does Barry sound?
Barry Gomer Obama?
Barry Marx Obama?
Barack W. Bush (when he was attempting to stumble to the middle)
Barack Alinsky Obama?
lolololol.....
Btw, you still seem hung up on "winning" the discussion and saying you're king of this mountain. Talk about blatant self-aggrandizement. Oh, and you're a weak debater, (jerking motion with hand).
All you ever do is say how great your candidate is with no facts just opinions. You often just cite blogs to back things up which are... just opinions. And you seem bent on dismissing what everyone else says even if the shoe fits. You never once admitted that Bush has done anything wrong and all you do is demonize democrats or liberals. Seriously you fit the mold of an angry political commissar railing against perceived enemies of the state with bunk statistics and names for people.
Live and let live and realize that no matter who wins in November 10 years from now the country will still be there.
btw, stop trying to use Ayn Rand figures to represent republicans. Especially after a 700 billion dollar bail out, Ms. Rand is rolling over in her grave. That and her mentality of not helping other people is good in idea but often sadistic in practice.
redferret":
Answering ME with what other "many" Republicans "do" in this instance (which I think is baloney, but...) is sad debate technique.
Repeating oneself with the same argument over and over no matter the response is simply, well, an affliction of indoctrination. I can't help you there. Good luck with it!
Yeah same to you buddy. Keep rattling that sabre.
Also in this case it is justified because that is what the other republicans do. You've been on enough postings to see it.
Well you'll vote for Sidney the Third, and I won't so there.
I call forth the old and true ages old, liberal saying:
"If you can't win, whine"
You may now assume your position in "last place".
wow keep it up. I just down graded you to hmmm....3rd grade, for keeping score and constantly telling other people they're in last place. Seriously, grow up.
btw, keep plugging for Sidney the Third.
(Removed by the site staff)
nice try, but no dice. Link's no good. Also really... ignorant to just pour out blanket blame like that. Why don't you blame those who made the clip and those who allowed it to be shown on their show?
Republicans who appear ignorant by their poor writing skills (low IQ? lazy in school?) and by their lack of critical thinking do not make a very strong case for their party.
I'm waiting for NV and JF to start whining, "Your momma!" That's about all they have left after their guy, McCain is wimping out on the debate....
Ooooohh, I can't handle it... I QUIT....oh, wait....I'm "suspending my campaign" And we can't Let the Trophy VP candidate debate either... Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Obama does not want to take time away from his studying for his big Friday night test.
He needs every second for that.
That little problem of the economy can wait for another day.
DC does not need the Great and Amazing Obama's wisdom to work out this deal. Even though his experience as 3 years of part-time US Senator and his 7 years of state senator would be extremely helpful.
He can go back to Florida and go back to studying for his big Friday night test.
Hussien, sorry that we disturb your studying. Please forgive us.
I am being unfair to Hussien.
He did say that he would be close to his phone and ready to his two-cents worth if needed.
Perhaps this economy thingy is above his pay grade.
Oh, JF, have you lost your ability to come up with something snippy? you are resorting to the "Cut and Paste?"
Thanks for showing your lack of understanding of the grownup issues.
A real candidate can balance serious issues. Perhaps if McCain knew how to properly utilize technology, maybe he,too would also be able to study for the debate. Why not send in his Trophy VP? I thought Palin was "ready to step right in..." OK, let her put her money where her Moosehole is.
BTW ANSWER THE QUESTIONS, NANCE
Are you a coward, like Johnno?
I am not like you ....which is a coward that will not answer my questions.
....shhhhhhssss....be very quiet...Obama is studying....he has a Do not Disturb sign...God forbid if he is needed in DC to work on the economy.....
OOOOHHH I'm Rubber and You're Glue..
Grow up, Please
You only posted your lame, factless questions, because you ARE too scared to honestly answer any of my questions, so let's try a very simple, fact based one for everyone to see just how cowardly you are...
Since John McCain is not a member of the senate finance committee, and therefore will not be part of ANY meetings concerning the Bailout; And, since McCain has very few real friends whom he can influence, especially since local republican candidates refuse to even be seen with him; Exactly WHAT IS JOHNNO DOING IN WASHINGTON THAT WOULD KEEP HIM FROM THE DEBATE?
It is already a fact that there will not be a vote on any package before Saturday, so since that is the only thing that he can do, WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF SUSPENDING AN ALREADY FLOUNDERING CAMPAIGN?
ANSWER THAT ONE, JF...
if you can....
Your questions are lame and stupid.
Of course, you are too scare to answer my questions.
As I see your statement about McCain then you must feel the same about Obama being worthless when it comes to dealing with economy.
Wow...you are saying Obama is worthless.
You are saying that all that Obama is good for is talking. I agree with that. I am sure that this economy issue is way about his pay grade.
It is important for both Obama and McCain to be in DC to deal with this issue.
It will have a big impact on whoever becomes President.
This should be their top priority.
Obama's top priority is studying.
FYI....the Senate Banking Committee and not the Senate Finance Committee is leading the show on the Senate side.
FYI....The Gallup Poll today (Thurs.) shows that the race is a tie.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF SUSPENDING AN ALREADY FLOUNDERING CAMPAIGN? Yes, Obama has decided not to suspend his floundering campaign.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con...
"John McCain's sudden intervention in Washington's deliberations over the Wall Street bailout could not have been more out of sync with what was actually happening.
He lamented that "partisan divisions in Washington have prevented us from addressing our national challenges." But for days, bipartisanship has been the rule on both sides of this argument. Republicans and Democrats alike were highly critical of President Bush's proposal to inject $700 billion into the financial system. Yet leaders of both parties were trying hard to negotiate an agreement with Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. That's why they were close to an agreement in principle even before the two presidential nominees arrived for yesterday's White House meeting that McCain thought was so important. "
Yeah, Johnno seems to be in charge of things. Just proving he is SOOOO out of touch with reality.
Maybe he DID have a stroke the other day....
"
Your questions are lame and stupid.
Of course, you are too scare to answer my questions.

It's entertaining to see just how childish you have become...
YOU LOSE....
LOL....you are quoting from a opinion piece to understand reality....no wonder you are so out of whack with reality.
Why not go to the DailyKos and get some liberal wacko's posting and offer that as reality too.
A liberal columist said McCain was bad. LOL......no big surprise there!
Here is the AP take on reality:
"An apparent breakthrough was announced with fanfare at midday by key members of Congress from both parties - but not top leaders."
If there was a deal then the top leaders would have announced that there was a deal or "agreement in principle" and the top leaders would have done it.
The White House never said that there was a deal or an "agreement in prinicple".
Pelosi and Reid never said that there was "agreement in prinicple".
There is a big disconnect between the Democratic leadership with the House Republican leadership and key Republican Senators.
The Democrats just assume that House Republicans and key Republican Senators will fall into line without getting their input.
Those Republicans want more taxpayer protection in the deal.
Still too afraid to answer the question....
Pathetic, just pathetic....
Again, you have my pity...
You ask a lot of stupid and silly questions. So you need to be more specific on which silly and stupid question.
I answer this silly and stupid question:
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF SUSPENDING AN ALREADY FLOUNDERING CAMPAIGN? Yes, Obama has decided not to suspend his floundering campaign because there is no purpose to suspend his floundering campaign.
Hillary would be about 15 points ahead right now.
According to Gallup today, Obama is tie with McCain.
McCain is running circles around Obama. It is very tough year for Republicans. Obama should be having a very easy win.
But 18 million dumb Democrats voted for Hussein and 18 million smart Democrats voted for Hillary.
Ohhhh. ONE POLL HAS THEM TIED!!!!
Wall St. journal, ABC, NBC,Bloomberg, Ipsos, you name it
ALL HAVE OBAMA IN THE LEAD some by 8 pts.
You you can have your tie...I'll take the rest...
Again you fail to use ALL the facts
If you are to stupid to know the questions, Perhaps I'll pose them again...
Since John McCain is not a member of the senate finance committee, and therefore will not be part of ANY meetings concerning the Bailout; And, since McCain has very few real friends whom he can influence, especially since local republican candidates refuse to even be seen with him; Exactly WHAT IS JOHNNO DOING IN WASHINGTON THAT WOULD KEEP HIM FROM THE DEBATE?
and...
Did John McCain Proudly boast that he championed the deregulation of the banking industry, YES OR NO?
and the bonus: Did McLame EVER< EVER Write an opinion stating that he favored deregulation of the healthcare industry, similar to the banking industry, YES OR NO?
And.....
1. Do you support a candidate who supported the secession of their home state? Yes or NO?
2. do you believe that Armageddon is approaching, and that unleashing our nuclear arsenal upon our enemies, to bring it on? Yes or NO
Ok, you may now try to whine your way out of answering, just like you always do...
You truly have my pity...
In your posting above you said, "Answer the question".
I guess word "the" is plural in your world.
If you want me to answer all your questions then you need to answer all my questions.
Thanks for your pity for I know you have lots lots and lots of self-pity to spare.
UPDATED WITH FINAL NUMBERS CBS News and Knowledge Networks conducted a nationally representative poll of approximately 500 uncommitted voters reacting to the debate in the minutes after it happened.
Thirty-nine percent of uncommitted voters who watched the debate tonight thought Barack Obama was the winner. Twenty-four percent thought John McCain won. Thirty-seven percent saw it as a draw.
Forty-six percent of uncommitted voters said their opinion of Obama got better tonight. Thirty-two percent said their opinion of McCain got better.
Sixty-six percent of uncommitted voters think Obama would make the right decisions about the economy. Forty-two percent think McCain would.
These numbers indicate (to anyone with a brain) that a Democrat will be sitting in the White House in January, 2009. If only we could count on a fair election in Florida!
hey poopard,
if it was a choice of this great nation to spend it with you, i'd choose extinction.
nit-wit
yep the call bush just plain "W"
why not call obuma just plain "hussein"
see? no name calling all fair.
