Letter to the editor:
Liberals throw stones from glass houses
Thu, Jul 17, 2008 (2:01 a.m.)
How many times have you heard people say that Republicans are warmongers?
I think just the opposite: World War I (Democratic President Woodrow Wilson), World War II (Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt), Korean War (Democratic President Harry Truman), Vietnam War (Democratic Presidents John F.Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson), and Kosovo (Democratic President Bill Clinton).
Meanwhile, how about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which hold 80 percent of the paper on U.S. mortgages? They were just bailed out by the federal government. Look who is on the board of directors of those two financial institutions. Most are Democrats who worked in the Clinton administration; some are far left Democrats. Even Louis Freeh, the former director of the FBI in the Clinton administration, is on the board of Fannie Mae.
I say wise up, liberal America, and look at your own sins before judging others.

Mr. Behrendt has partaken of too much Kool-Aid. Turn off the AM radio, sir; Fox "news" is NOT "fair and balanced".
BTW, Republicans ARE warmongers. Sorry you can't seem to accept a dose of reality.
What a bizarre twist on history. Japan started us in WWII, not FDR. Korea I will concede to Truman, although it still took Ike a year to help end it. Ike also played his part in Vietnam by sending billions of dollars worth of equipment and several hundred advisors. Nixon kept the Vietnam war going for several years. Indeed, he escalated us illegally into Cambodia. Reagan's administration was highly illegally involved with the whole Iran-Contra affair, as was Bush Sr. Indeed, investigations of that debacle lasted into the Bush Sr. administration. (Hint: Who received Bush Sr.'s final pardons when he left office? Why?)
So, how can you contend that it has been Democrats exclusively who are involved in U.S. war activities?
Jim:
Where have YOU heard that Republicans are "Warmongers? Do you mean ALL Republicans? Do you mean ALL Republicans throughout history? Some Republicans throughout history? or what? I wasn't around during WW1, so I can't say much about it. I was 7 when WW2 started but I do remember quite clearly that everyone I knew took active part in fighting the "Nazis and the Japs". And history records that it wasn't just everyone I knew, but damn nears every individual in the country took an active part, and were individually and personally affected by that war. So I feel certain that we all were "warmongers" then.
Perhaps you mean our current flock of goosestepping Republicans? In that case, I'd have to say "yes", since you all have bought into your Great Leader's lies about the threat that Iraq poses, and seem willing, nay anxious, to grant him a third term in which to continue the debacle, maim our chidren (the one's being recruited now were 10 years old when he started this) and drain our economy.
