LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Republicans ignore lessons of Goldwater
Fri, Jul 4, 2008 (2:01 a.m.)
Today, under George W. Bush, our national debt is $9.4 trillion. Here is the debt each president since Carter handed to the next when leaving office:
Carter: $700 billion. Reagan: $3.1 trillion. George H.W. Bush: $4.2 trillion. Bill Clinton: $5.5 trillion. And George W. Bush, so far: $9.4 trillion. Somebody please explain to me why Republicans continue to call Democrats “tax and spend liberals”?
A much-respected Republican by the name of Barry Goldwater once said it is best to pay as you go rather than put your expenses on a credit card.
Who are the “pay as you go” people and who are the “spend and put it on the credit card” people?
The answer is quite obvious.

It's the Republican way - say one thing, do the opposite - lie, lie, lie. When will people wake up.
