Letter to the Editor:
Thanks, first family, for service, civility
Wed, Jun 18, 2008 (2:05 a.m.)
This is an open thank you to President Bush and first lady Laura Bush for their service, dedication, loyalty and love for this country and its people.
Having served and retired as a Texas state peace officer, I provided protection to Texas governors as one of my duties. Of the many I worked with, no one earned my respect more than these two people.
I have spent personal time with him alone as well as with the couple together. I have never known them to verbally attack others as they have been attacked.
I have always wondered what President Bush could have done as a peacetime president, but thank God it was he who was in office during this time of war. It absolutely frightens me not to be able to continue to have a person of his caliber as president.

Gag, puke, puke, puke. Who paid you to right this trash?
I, too, want to thank President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush for their service of our country. First, for your personal integrity and true love of each other. Second, for protecting our freedom and for no more attacks on our country. Third, for having vision and being a leader. Your energetic leadership and personal pride for the office have been an inspiration. May God bless you and your family.
to mwh710....you are showing your intellect. The word should be "write", not "right". Maybe you should put your and your family's safety in someone you personally know...who would that be?
To dothanal...right on!
I too thank the President and the First Lady for showing as much class and dignity during their TWO terms in Washington.
Howling jackels called liberals who trade their honesty, dignity and maturity have hounded the President since before he was inaugurated - shame on all of them.
I truly feel history will shine kindly on the President, with the First Lady among the most gracious, unlike the F/L who preceded her.
Am happy to read something really nice about President Bush. He is my favorite president . Too bad some do not appreciate a president that puts God ahead of everything , LOVES our country, and his family. It's unreal how he can have such a wonderful sense of humor after people say such cruel and hateful things about him. For the record he is a very intelligent man. As far as Iraq is concerned, he gave Saddam chance after chance to no avail. He kept his word, and the world is better off without Saddam. The U.S. didn't hang Saddam. He is the only president in many years that had the backbone to follow up on his word. To those who disagree I feel sorry for you.
