Letter to the editor:

Don’t trust war’s backers on Iraq withdrawal

Thu, May 29, 2008 (2:04 a.m.)

We know that in the next several months we are going to be constantly hearing the debate about whether, when and what happens when we get our troops out of Iraq. The fact is, we can’t really predict what will happen.

If it’s true that our presence is a major cause of the violence in the country, then our withdrawal should significantly decrease the violence. If American tax dollars are funding massive greed and corruption, then removing our tax dollars should reduce the amount of corruption.

The Bush administration and those who are supporting the war are the same ones who told us we would be welcomed with open arms and flowers and the war would be over in a matter of weeks.

Why should we believe anyone who was so wrong about what would happen when we invaded Iraq about what will happen when we leave Iraq?

  1. Troops will not be leaving Iraq for quite a while. It's quite easy to predict what will happen IF, say, a liberal President pulls troops out of there without completing the massively successful "surge" strategies in full.

Remember, Iranian President Mahmoud Achminijihad(sp) has endorsed Barack Hussein Obama for President.

A weak Iraq left prematurely will be the same as when da liberals of the mid-70s pulled the rug out from under the South Vietnamese government and military. Liberals in Congress cut funding, after pulling American forces out.

Will da liberal claim responsibility for the millions of deaths, millions tortured and millions of lives destroyed from the aftermath of Vietnam - throughout South Eastern Asia? Liberals remain in DEEP stone denial over this 30 years later.

Will da liberal claim responsibility for the millions in the Middle East similarly affected if a liberal President yanks Coalition forces out without an Iraq able to function on its own in full?

History won't repeat itself, even for a political puppy who wants to run the second and maybe third term(s) of Jimmy Carter (except Jimmy C was a Governor first, lol...). B.O. will face reality if elected - then try and spin his way out of the promises to his lib-bases he makes now.

Why, oh why, won't Barry Hussein Obama accept McCain's offer to tour Iraq TOGETHER to assess progress there??

He'll have to face the reality of the lies he's telling America now and the successes going on in Iraq right now.

    Read it and weep.....

  2. That means we would have to have a successful "surge". There, hasn't been, won't be - ever. Throwing good money after bad, more kids killed for Republican greed. Get out now. We should never have been there to start with. Send Bubba and friends in to fight - Oh yeah, Bubba went AWOL... Daddy just shut the files to cover for him.... again. Thank heavens the villiage idiot will be gone soon. Unfortunatly he has left America is massive disrepair - as Republicans always do. Time for fiscally responsible Democrats to clean up the mess - again. It makes me sick, what Bubba & his greedy friends have done, impeachment is too good for him.

  3. Hey, if Bush and the gang were to follow their own logic, we would be sending a whole lot more troops over there right now. Why do we keep things at a "status quo" or "barely above marginal" level of security? Why not just go in there with the most massive number of troops ever, get it fixed, and then exit? Wouldn't that make sense? Of course, to do that, we would need to have a draft. And since Bush and the gang are utterly politically petrified of strapping on a pair of "da kahonis," we shall not see actual success. Blame liberals all you want, but conservatives have shown themselves to be just as cowardly in their approach.

  4. NVMakz has been unable before to substantiate his "massively successful 'surge' strategy" argument. In fact, his bar is set so low that meeting 3 of the 18 benchmarks laid out is how NVMakz defines success. In fact, massive success!

My, oh my, the bar's so low only the spineless could limbo.

Nor does he have the slightest understanding of Obama's strategy for withdrawal. NVMakz's empty platitudes and inability to spell notwithstanding, he should spend some time reading about Barack's approach employing regional diplomacy, and the need for Iraq to take some responsibility for itself.

The less-than-mediocre short-term gains from the surge cannot be sustained without implicit support and progress from the Iraqi government, and Bush-McCain has failed at every turn to make that support a reality. McCain has pledged to continue Bush's failed policies, and that is not an option if we truly value our national security.

Just a little nugget for "the bs" to choke on. My own little baby cyberstalker.....

3 of 18? That's so 2005, ims. If a liberal gets the Presidency, it'll be reverting to 0 for 18, as any sane Iraqi will just give in to defeat - as da Am-liberal has already done.

Vietnam - millions dead, tortured and shattered. Pulling out as Barry O wants, the same thing. He has no plan. Or, maybe Achmini-jihad(sp) knows and that's why he's endorsed Barry O for POTUS??

The "surge' works, has worked and will work as long as the general populace sees results, as they have = as evidenced by the lack of liberal media war coverage of maimed, stricken and dead Americans. lol....

I made 11 points in my first post here today. "the bs" even addressed, incorrectly (swing and a miss), only one of eleven (1 of 11). That's a worse batting average than he "says" is Bush average of 3 of 18. As was expected.

  6. I'd like to talk a little today about the recent rash of RusHannityOReilly LockStep Syndrome that's invaded our little corner of the web.

A common symptom of RHORLS is the loss of time. Patients often wake up disoriented, confused and rife with errors in basic reasoning.

Their faculties overwrought with misfiring neurons, they sometimes stumble online and cite editorials by right-wing wonks as proof of glorious success in Iraq, in spite of congressional testimonials by military leaders. They're further confused by questions regarding space/time. Events that took place a mere 9 months ago feel like years. They may mistake a GAO report that was delivered at the end of 2007 as taking place before the surge even began. Sadly, their addled brains can't figure out that simple logical inconsistency.

RHORLS patients suffer delusions of grandeur, or may confuse war fatigue with actual success. They repeat themselves, endlessly trying to convince themselves of their delusions. "I think I can! I think I can!" They make false allusions between disparate subjects.

Those suffering these debilitating symptoms have low or no expectations for success. Faced with the slightest platitude, they scream and cheer their complete victory. Reality can't rain on their parade.

Their pathetic attempts at humor are often times highly inappropriate and offensive to military families. They may chuckle when they mention, "maimed, stricken and dead Americans. lol"

They have been known to idolize the unworthy, and are unwilling to suspend belief when dissenting opinion is proven.

Fortunately, there is Hope available. Coming in January 2009: The Obama Presidency Simply by virtue of it's existence, The Obama Presidency will work to turn back these symptoms. The logical fallacies and 2nd grade grammar of RHORLS sufferers will be replaced by substantive arguments and well-reasoned hypotheses.

The bitter myopia and endless repeating of mid-day AM radio talking points will slowly be replaced with Olbermannesque patriotic indignation.

This, my fellow Americans, is what we can look forward to with The Obama Presidency. Coming January, 2009.

  7. "Bush Derangement Syndrome" is just much simpler to use.

History will shine kindly on the massive accomplishments of this President.

As da liberal continues to constrict, smother, twist, turn and otherwise concoct new flavors of kool-aid == history will sour and smell hypocritical.

  8. "Liberal Boogeyman Syndrome" is catchier.
