Blame Democrats for high price of energy

The Democrats continue their efforts to blame the rising prices of gasoline and fuel oil on the Republicans and, in particular, the Bush administration. There is no bigger lie to be foisted upon the American public.

Since 1980, almost 29 years ago, the Democrats began their refusal to allow offshore drilling, Alaskan oil drilling, the construction of nuclear power plants and wind farms off the coast of New England. Their claims, however foolish, were designed to protect the interests of their political contributors, not the pocketbooks of the American citizenry.

Now the Democrats want to blame the Republican Party for failure to levy fines for “price gouging” by Big Oil. Never mind the fact that they, the Democrats, ran on the promise to keep gasoline prices low and punish Big Oil for price gouging.

The Democrat spokesmen all say that if we were to allow drilling offshore, in Alaska, and that if we were to allow nuclear power plants, it would be at least 10 years before we would realize anything in production. That may be true, but if we had begun to act in 1980, 29 years ago, the “10 year” claim would be a moot point! We would have had energy prices under control, and facts are facts!

Speak it, brother.....

Choking energy supplies and forcing-in-place daunting obstacles to helping ourselves IS the Democrat Way re: energy.

Hearing liberals decry to the heavens being "so dependent on foreign oil", then doing everything they can to keep us so dependent IS treasonous.

Also, who does super-high energy prices hurt the most = the poor and middle-class. Those the liberal SAY they care so much about.

If you honestly believe that drilling in ANWR will lower prices at the pump I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.

If you honestly believe that drilling for more oil anywhere is going to enhance the security prospects for our nation I'll sell you the Golden Gate as well.

Those who tell us that continuing to rely on oil as our main source of energy is in our best interest are either stupid or "treasonous" themselves.

The people running the major oil companies certainly aren't stupid, but their loyalty isn't to us or even to the United States; their loyalty is to their bottom lines. These are the very people that Vice President Cheney invited in during the early days of the Bush administration to formulate our national energy policy. So tell me, please, how it is that we've spent the last eight years living with a national energy policy set by the major oil companies and yet our energy problems are somehow the fault of the Democrats.

It is true that ANWR and other drilling would benefit the US. We would lose our dependence on foreign oil, which also leads to us financing many terrorist states. I too agree that we need to move from oil to other renewable sources, however, to get there, we need to become independant with what we already have. I know whacked out environmentalists will fight this to the end of time. But we need to give a little first to get to where we want to go. We need to drill our own oil. I only fear if Barrack or Hillary get into office and they start taxing oil companies, we the public will feel it at the pump more than we do now. Although I am an independant and don't side with either party, the left wing (dems) of the government have screwed us since the early 80's. Yes it is mainly the dems fault we are where we are at now.

Have any of you noticed that the price of crude is a GLOBAL thing, that everyone in the world is paying OPEC's price? Since we invaded Iraq, and keep threatening violence against Iran, the price has been going up. There is not enough oil in this country to make a dent in world oil prices. We should be concentrating on being more fuel-efficient. The Republicans have been in charge 6 out of the last 8 long years and the price of a barrel of oil has gone from $20 to $135, and it can't be blamed on the Democrats--facts are facts, unless you are a Republican, to whom facts don't much matter.
