Letter to the Editor:
Bush responsible for mess this country is in
Wed, Apr 23, 2008 (2:05 a.m.)
Does anyone else notice that President Bush and the Republicans take no responsibility for what has happened to this country? In the past eight years the Republicans have been saying that everyone bashes Bush. Here are some proven reasons why Bush and the Republicans are at fault and should be held accountable.
Gasoline was $1.26 a gallon when oilman Bush took office. It’s almost $4 a gallon now, and still rising. Also, thousand of lives have been lost since Bush took office. Bush’s war has devastated thousands of families.
The tax break for the rich has plunged this country into a recession and very close to a depression. Our borders have been overrun because rich people are profiting from slave labor. The deficit is so high that Bush says nothing about China’s disregard for human rights, because the Chinese own this country.
The biggest thing Bush has done is to ruin the reputation of our country around the world. The use of torture, detaining people for years without legal help and dragging people out of their homes in Iraq is truly disheartening to watch.
Bush’s support in this country, according to a recent Gallup Poll, is about 28 percent. USA Today reports that Bush has scored “the highest disapproval rating — 69 percent — in the history of the Gallup Poll, which dates to Franklin Roosevelt’s tenure.”
People around the world and here at home are going to remember George W. Bush and the Republicans for decades to come. Can we ever mend and fix what has happened to this country in the past eight years? Only the future will tell. I truly believe that in Bush’s mind he’s doing a great job. Scary, isn’t it?

"Banal" seems the right response to the bitter, mistaken talking points and "junior G-man" analysis in this form letter in the Socialist Sun.
Presidents have nothing to do with gas prices - economic supply and demand factors do. These same supplies which the leftist eco-facists effort each day to choke off. The stories and reports of new finds and increased supplies in Alaska, the Dakotas / Canada and the Gulf are the exact same stories of leftists fighting against increased supplies to help ourselves. It is the Banals of the world who say we gotta get off foreign oil from those who hate us - but who fight our own oil industry tooth-&-nail to prevent domestic or regional development.
NONE of the current Presidential hopefuls can do anything about gas prices as long as domestic supplies are gagged off, either.
The "Banals" of the world need America to be secondary to other nations. Bush hasn't harmed America's reputation much at all, but the anti-American global-liberal who the world sees as their internal corrosive in America, the enemy within, is on your side. The next time, Mr. Banal, you make important decisions about your "family" = consult every one of your "friends", without fail, and do what THEY say, OK?? Leading by what others think you should do is not leadership.
The word "Banal" means "lacking freshness, originalities and simply more of the same", acc to the dictionary. I suggest this letter author has lived up to that in this tired, opinion piece. His letter is just the same 'ol form letter the Sun has several times a week. Quite "Banal", isn't it?
Of course there are always blind ignorant people who follow the flock (NVMakz & Republicans). Thankfully and hopefully, a fiscally responsible party will come to power again & bring the country around - again, that is until the ignorant take power again & ruin it.
"mwh" = thanks for not addressing a single debate point I had made. THAT says much, much more than your flaccid, irrelevant name-calling response.
As usual a liberal Dem is out in left field. Too bad he is overlooking the fact that a policy of change brought the Democrats to the majority in the House and Senate in 2006. What has happened since then? The gasoline has skyrocketed and they want to take the profits set for investors that probably include most retirement programs and do what with it. You won't see it.
2006, real estate going well, now massive forclosures. The Dems proposal? Let those of us that take the time to read what we sign and use common sense in purchases bail them out with our tax dollars. I don't want to buy your home.
The war and the deaths are terrible, can't deny that. But, what is the alternative? Back to flying a cruise missile into a tent in the middle of the desert? Pres. Clinton was feckless, and afraid to protect our country. Thus 9/11.
Ah yes, change in 2006 has really helped unemployment hasn't it. If you want to place blame put it where it belongs, the Democratic Congress and Senate. They won't be happy until they take all our money and tell us where to go to pick up our food packs, our clothing, and everything else that makes us individuals. Open the borders, the Dems are the ones with the money wanting to cash in on the illegals. What is their proposal to stem the flow? None. They will probably want to put more water bottles in the middle of the desert to help them get here.
Like stated above, the blind leads the blinds and follows the ignorant flock. "Question to all" Look back and tell me OUR country wasn't better before he took office'Oh my fault before he STOLE OFFICE' That's the question that needs to be ask? Oh yeah , and ALL THE SOLDIERS THAT PASSED WERE STILL ALIVE. My brother thank the lord has returned after serving two over in Iraq and NO I don't owe it to Bush! I owe it up to the good lord
Yes, blame the puppet (Bush). Let us not blame the real people at fault. The US citizens for allowing such things to occur and allowing us to become more socialist.
Want to place blame, look in the mirror. Then look at the ACLU. Look at the Environmentalist. First.
"Gasoline was $1.26 a gallon when oilman Bush took office. It’s almost $4 a gallon now, and still rising" The Gov. Should stop subsidizing the Oil companies should then tell the tree huggers to take a hike and build refineries. Should also stop giving money to farmers for E85 the worst gas guzzling fuel produced and cost more then its worth. Get the farmers back to real crops that is needed.
"The use of torture, detaining people for years without legal help and dragging people out of their homes ". There is a war going on. Terrorist have no rights. Politics has no place in war. Let the military do their job. Bush has done more to free the country then any other. reasons for going right or wrong the over all out come for freedom or would you rather the people of IRAQ still be slaves and punished for being of a different sec. If so nice to meet you hitler.
"The tax break for the rich has plunged this country into a recession and very close to a depression" What a crock... What about blaming the democrats for their solution on the incentive program. Again can you say socialist. Take 40% of the US workers make less then the amount to file taxes. That leaves 60% to make up that taxes. Then take the fact the dems wanted give that 40% a check of our tax money. Then if you earn to much they take away $100 for every $1000 earned above their special cut off.
Lets blame the government for a person making poor choice in investing and buying homes they could not afford and then they lose their house. Again! Sorry people you f-up Face the fact take your loss and try again. Do not blame the gov for pore lending practices and greedy banks and stupid people.
"Our borders have been overrun because rich people are profiting from slave labor"
Blame both parties for not taking care of another large issue. Illegal’s from any country. The issue with our Social Securities is being used to take care of those here that should not be. The ACLU and others holding court hearings fro criminals and calling for Civil Rights they do not have. They have human rights not Civil. Round up send home send their country a bill.
Again you want to blame someone blame our selves first. Then the Gov. Then Stop blaming and start addressing. I hear complaints and see no one offering solutions. The ones we do hear are at best from the ideas of a child.
I didn't see any use of a debate point by NVMakz unless he is referring to the same old tired rhetoric Republicans pull out every election cycle around drilling, drilling, drilling. It's a bogus point since the facts prove opposite, it would take ten years, the supply would only last six months, and there would be no lessening of people's dependence on oil. But, hey, why let facts stand in your way you can go on and demonize a person's name, or write about others using the intelligent factual debate points like "flaccid, Socialist Sun, anti American global liberal, you've made Karl Rove proud and once again proved you can't debate any point on merits or factual evidence. Your the name caller.
While Presidents alone may not cause the price of gas to go up, their policies and the policies of their party to influence it. Six years of rubber stamp Republicans in Congress did nothing but give more subsides to the oil companies. The Iraq war can contributed as well. Past years it's been the Republicans who have always made certain no legislation passed to lessen our dependence on foreign oil, can't have those auto makers have higher mileage standards on cars.
Did the oil companies use the billons of excess profits to build more refineries, NO. How much have they put into developing renewal engery, not much either, surprise surprise. Why would they, it might decrease their profit margins, yikes. Speculation can cause gas prices to go up on a day by day basis. We haven't even gotten to the demands of China so for now, Bush's promise made a few years ago to "jaw bone" the Arabs of OPEC didn't work. They basically told him it's not the supply and demand, there is plenty it's the mismanagement of our own economy. Oil companies too share part of the blame, but you'll never see Republicans hold them accountable. Accountability is a word Relpublicans use a lot except for their own policies and the diasters of what they have created and passed as legislation.
I'm not taking the fall for this Republican administration, I didn't vote for it so NVBOY it may be your fault if you voted Republican but don't blame the rest of us and stop trying to make those of us accountable for your own mistakes. It might surprise you but lots of us who wouldn't vote Republican actually believe that "we the people" government can be used for the common good. You never see it with a Republican in office but it's happened in our history and we the people have been better for it under Democratic adminstrations. The middle class didn't come about from anything Republican and if you don't beleive that start reading some history.
Zebe:
You numbers and thoughts in the first paragraph are SO 2000. The "six months" has been blown away as of 2003 and there have been massive new finds since in the aforementioned places. Next, are you gonna pull the tired "peak oil" canard as the energy-supply-choking liberal has been want to do these days.
Don't blame Me if I returned fire in a unique and unusual way.
This Republican Administration WILL seems like an efficient shangra-la IF the one of the uber-socialist frauds and liars on the left get in the big chair. Neither are qualified, but don't let the national downward slide in America since the Liberal Congress took over in '06 provide any lessons. Still, their approval ratings have slid from about 56% (the national Congressional vote count then) - to about 21% today. That's 10 points lower than a man who either (D) "left" in the race can't carry his briefing book - George W. Bush.
Anyway, your warmed over shrill whinings aren't any substitute for the insightful analysis provided by ME this morning.
You're dismissed.....
uglygirl:
The rose-colored glasses liberal still pining for the 90s, when accounting frauds, impotent national security operatives, the rise of world-wide terrorism and SO much more clouds your talking points. liberals seem to never learn from their glossed over cult-of-personality images.
The world IS much better - for me and mine - since Clinton "left". By far.
I thank your brother for his service, unless you were just blowing smoke, then....
Bush "stole office" = SO 2000, out-of-season and just whining since Gore etc couldn't invalidate enough Bush votes to WIN. Several news organizations re-did ALL the Fla count, and Bush won on all FOUR methods of recount they did. Get over it, whiner.....
Remember, the liberal "voted for the war before running away from it"(mq) - to paraphrase another (D-Loser).
Where's the insightful liberal arguments? IMO, there aren't any - at least here.
NvMakz,
Pompous, arrogant, misinformed, uneducated, possiblty illerate. Your use of slime words tells a lot of about you. You seem to be blinded by hate, I'm sorry for you. Your comments aren't fire power nor unique or unusual. You could have stolen them all from Fox News, Rushie, Hannity or O'Leily. Same ole, same ole, boring, borish radical right wing ranter enabler.
Luckily your in the minority and and I'm glad to be dismissed by a person of your lowly inteligence that still hasn't used one factual piece of evidence to support your cockeyed opinons.
As thin as your skin seems to be you'll no doubt rant and rave again. Your entitled to your opinion regardless how illogical your comments are to anyone other than another radical right wing enabler. Frankly, I'm not interested at all in your opinion. I don't waste time on pompous arrogant people who have no respect for anyone else's opinion.
I love the warm, itchy place I now reside = under your skin.
The irrelevant bombast of insult descriptors is more in like with the Daily Kos, or more accurately, the Democratic Underground. Such wastes of bandwidth ARE the same as your sad and impotent screed here.
Face facts, I'm still waiting for any insight from you, a unique twist or even some rationality from the liberal here. You've failed and are melting down in the effort.....
"I'm not interested at all in (your) opinion...."
and
"I don't waste time on pompous, arrogant....."
Liar!
Bush doesn't even have the ballz to call a recession a recession - instead he wants to call it a 'slowdown'... what a jerk
