Regarding Richard Mundy’s Saturday letter, “A good man, but too old for the White House”:

There are plenty of reasons not to vote for John McCain, but age is not one of them. His mother is 95, and her mind is lucid and clear. Bertrand Russell, well-known British philosopher, historian, logician and mathematician, lived to age 97.

It is well documented that his mind remained lucid and clear up to the time of his death. I would ask everybody, when they reach the age of 72, to ask themselves if they are not wiser and more experienced than they were on this day.

I have a better reason not to vote for John McCain. The Republicans, while strong on defense, effectively loot the Treasury, give the money to the rich people, and screw up the economy.

It happened with 12 years of Ronald Reagan and George Bush the elder, and now with eight years of this President Bush. At the end of the Reagan and Bush senior era, the country was left with a reeling economy and a huge deficit. At the end of Bush junior’s reign, it is a repeat. We need to elect a Democrat to right the ship.
