You have to give Gov. Jim Gibbons credit …
Sun, Jan 13, 2008 (2 a.m.)
You have to give Gov. Jim Gibbons credit and those are words you don’t read too often! A Friday afternoon is usually the best time for politicians to drop bad news it is lost on Friday night newscasts and in Saturday newspapers. But how about a late Friday afternoon when a presidential candidate is in town, amid a frenzy over an upcoming presidential caucus. Now that is genius! Great time to disgorge news of impending budget cuts and an even larger deficit than before. I’d like to think that this is credit where credit is due, that the governor and his advisers sat around and decided this would be a perfect time to release the bad news. Then again, if the past is prologue, it was probably an accident.
