Ron Paul, the Libertarian-leaning congressman from Texas, raked in nearly $198,000 in Nevada campaign contributions last quarter. According to year-end Federal Election Commission documents reviewed and analyzed by the Sun, Paul's fundraising here netted just over $260,000. Mitt Romney and recent drop-out Rudy Giuliani, the closest runners-up, brought in slightly more than $119,000 each.
Nationally, Paul's campaign had receipts of almost $20 million in the fourth quarter, increasing his 2007 total by about 240 percent.
This vaults Paul very close to the Nevada fundraising efforts of Sen. John McCain, which have yielded $294,000 in 2007. Romney still leads the state as far as the total amount raised last year, $851,508.

The article should have also mentioned that Paul received the most donations nation-wide for any Rep. candidate in the 4th Q.
Paul raised $19.9M. Romney had $9M. McCain had $6.8M. Huckabee had $6.6M.
It's amazing that the Sun reported Paul polling last but he took second place here in NV. If the Sun and the RJ actually reported the local "news" to the locals who buy their papers, instead of their desired opinions, they could have easily made themselves aware of Paul's popularity here in NV by attending the Rep. Party Meetings. Ron Paul supporters were clearly the dominate crowd. Paul supporters were the only ones to conduct a parade in Vegas. And Paul supporters turned out at the Artemus Hall for a rally here in Vegas unequaled by any of the other Rep. candidates, over 1,000. AND! Paul's donations records, unlike the other candidates, were available for public viewing streaming live online 24/7. We knew Paul's 4th Q totals December 31. Yet, Paul polled last prior to our Jan 19 Caucus? I wonder how Paul would have done if those who get their news only from mainstream media didn't think, "Paul doesn't have a chance"?
Excellent piece of info, Clay Season! That article should also have noted that those HUGE funds that Ron Paul collected were from PRIVATE donations, not lobbyists, etc. that the other get funds from. Ron Paul also has the highest MILITARY contributions of any other candidate, as well.
It is a crime the way main-stream just blatantly is trying to sabotage his candidacy! Little do they know the passion we Ron Paul supporters exude!
