WASHINGTON -- At his first weekly press conference of 2008, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced one of his New Year’s resolutions.
He took a deep breath and declared: “I’m going to try to talk louder.”
Reid is famous for his soft voice that sounds more like that of a scholar than a Senate top dog. I wrote last fall about one memorable moment when he went after President Bush in a whisper.
Reid seemed to get off to a decent start. With dozens of reporters in his packed conference room, his announcement reached those in the back. It was greeted with a round of applause.
Please Harry, stick around until 2010. I want to see you defeated at the ballot box. We are going to send you and your America-loathing soul into retirement. You are an embarassment to Nevada and do not represent our American and western values.
"Talk" is cheap. I just hope we are not denied the chance in '10 to send him into oblivion.
Keep dreaming, he's not going anywhere. And careful what you wish for. If you think Nevada doesn't benefit from having the senate majority leader as its senator then you don't have a clue.
