Top Gibbons aides quitting

The governor's top two aides will announce this morning they are leaving the Gibbons administration, according to a source close to the administration.

The tenures of Mike Dayton, the chief of staff, and Dianne Cornwall, the chief operation officer, have been marked by infighting and charges of cronyism, weak appointments and incompetence.

Their looming departure was first reported by Sun columnist Jon Ralston in his email newsletter.

Deputy chief of staff and counsel to the governor Josh Hicks, a widely respected lawyer from a prominent Reno-area family, is poised to take the helm.

The Sun reported a raft of problems inside the governor's office two weeks ago, in a story detailing lack of communication with departments and agencies and a chaotic environment.

  1. A weak leader surrounds himself with like-minded sycophants. This is no surprise. Just another boneheaded blunder by America's Worst Governor.

  2. Mmmm....is that pronounced "sicko-pants"?

  3. Maybe this will start the administration back on to the road of recovery. Why do I keep hearing the theme song from the “Wizard of Oz” playing in my head “Ding Dong! The Witch is gone, which old witch? The wicked witch! Ding Dong! The wicked witch is gone!......Yes, let the joyous news be spread, The Wicked Old Witch at last is gone!”

  4. This governer gets more bad press than president Bush.

You would think Gibbons had killed somebodys family during a bout of drunken driving.

All he is guilty of is doing what he promised by keeping taxes down during difficult times.

The last governer was able to spend money like a drunken sailor thanks to
good financial times. Those times are now over.
