Tark to Harvard: I’m your guy

Jerry Tarkanian wants Harvard to know that if it is looking for a coach to clean up its basketball program, he's interested in the job.

But he was laughing when he said it.

"Absolutely," Tarkanian told Yahoo.com's Dan Wetzel when informed that Harvard, in its first season under former Duke standout Tommy Amaker, has been accused of minor recruiting violations by the New York Times.

"I'm retired, but why not?" Tark said. "Harvard was one school I never even thought about."

Tark told Wetzel, with whom he has authored a book, that he used to joke that UNLV "was the Harvard of Southern Nevada."

Harvard hasn't reached the NCAA tournament in 62 years but has never been charged with an NCAA violation.

Tark's Rebels, on the other hand, once went to the NCAA tournament in nine straight seasons when he was coach.

NCAA violations? Well, let's just say they might have been charged with one or two.
