  1. You should go ask the LA Times readership. This Victorville baloney makes it near enough to worthless for residents on the Nevada line of the equation.

  2. Agree with mike_ch. What am I supposed to do when I get to Victorville? Walk to LA from there?

If people were really that interested in ways to travel between So Cal and Vegas without having to drive themselves, there would be buses all over I-15 (and a bus doesn't require billions of dollars of infrastructure). These trains are nice in principle, but once the initial novelty wears off, people will be back to driving their own cars. Sorry Desert Xpress.

By not being able to make it past Victorville, the train is nearly useless to Vegas residents, which means that beginning of weekends every train to LA will be empty and on Sundays every train to Vegas will be empty. And mid-week every train going both ways will be empty since there is no traffic on the highway.

  3. I live in Hollywood, and drive 25 minutes to go to Anaheim often. If the "maglev project" connected Anaheim, I would consider taking the train. With a Maglev to orange county the next step in Southern California would connect the Metro system from Union Station Los Angeles to Anaheim Orange County (The Orange Line). Connecting Vegas to Victorville is pointless, no one will leave their car there. Victorville is not even in Los Angeles County, it is a part of san bernardino county. Desert Xpress would have been good in the 80's, it is time to build the future. This really looks like a project where private investors are going to make money building a project that will be useless once completed. Reminds me of a Las Vegas "bridge to nowhere".
