This budget shortfall is a product of intellectual bankruptcy in Carson City.
This has to be one of the VERY few times I have to agree with Darren Divine: CSN simply cannot afford to run a thousand satellite campuses all over the state like Moapa Valley which serve only a few dozen students each. Those students can be equally well served by enrolling in the college's vast listing of online courses. Having said that, you lurking campus politicians would do well to follow Divine's path: serve as faculty senate chair, hobnob with the big boys, and you too can double your salary in three years! Who cares about who you ACTUALLY serve if you can increase your bottom line so effortlessly. EVEN the PENTAGON has better rules against switching sides......
