Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer talk Liberty's statement victory, Bishop Gorman's error-filled night and Centennial's time to shine against Arbor View. In the middle of the usual discussion, they break into an argument over which player is having the best season so far — D.J. Pumphrey or Niko Kapeli.

  1. Credit to Palo's playmakers for keeping it interesting. Liberty was sloppy with penalties early and then they slept on Palo. You can't sleep on a team that has absolute game changers like Lee Griggs and Beaulieu. Beaulieu is a beast and showed why you can't count Palo out, even if they are playing a team better than them. That said I think Liberty made it clear they are the clear #2 team. Liberty played sloppy, Palo got big breaks from Beaulieu but in reality Liberty is likely 3-4 touchdowns better than Palo this year. The Palo rally was great, 27-7 and we start making our way down the stairs of the stands, by the time we got to the parking lot it was 27-21 ugh.

Most of what we saw at Liberty we knew already:
    Liberty is better this year
    Kapeli is a stud
    Beaulieu is a stud
Parker Rost can't possibly be the best QB candidate Palo has
#1 for Liberty is as fast as anyone in town, they need to use him on kickoff and offense more what a beast.

The #1 surprise from Liberty game that will be a game changer? Their kicker. 47 and 40 yard field goals like cake. Invaluable at this level.

Gorman got a slice of humble pie from Bergen. Servite is very down this year and has looked really bad offensively in their two losses, but you gotta remember their one win was against then top 25 nationally Rancho Cucamonga. Besides our fans being 80% worthless all I could think about was "Put in Shaq!" Starks is a beast but i'd take Shaq back any day over Starks. Shaq was just special on both sides of the ball. Servite needs this win badly for confidence and relevance sake. Gorman needs to make a statement and should be livid after their last showing. I picked Servite to win pre season but i'm taking my Gaels on the road playing with a big chip on their shoulders.

Pumphrey has looked ridiculous. Foothill lacks speed and a lot of other things but Pumphrey is legit. I'll take the over against Palo. Pumphrey puts 151 yards on Palo this week.

  2. Liberty and Palo was a good game. Liberty got a good win. Not as dominate as I thought they would be or had the chance to be. They let Palo back in the game, not good, but still a good victory. Gorman , nice uniforms, cant hate on looking good, but Gorman under estimated Bergen's play makers. Bergen was also a hard hitting team. Gorman will bounce back with a win over Servite.
Some teams have stepped up , some have stepped down. Centinial and Liberty have stepped it up. Durango hasn't lived up to the hype. Will Canyon step up and beat Palo?
What's going on in Division 1A. Cheyenne looks good but doesn't look like the run away champ everyone thought they would be. The old 3A has stepped up Moapa, Virgin, and Boulder. Can Desert Pines turn it around.Mojave, to be or not to be, out score everyone in the second half, but can they turn it on all game. Chap has stepped up also, can they challenge for the top spot?We will see.

  3. Here is what Truckee's field looked like last November for the playoffs...
