Las Vegas Sun reporters Case Keefer and Ray Brewer talk about finding more competitive games for several struggling programs in the 4A classification — like in the 3A. Oh, Gorman and Palo are still the cream of the crop.

hey ray, while there should be a better 3A, i can't see how it can be created when schools like chap have the same enrollment as canyon springs. or schools like western having larger enrollments than desert oasis or liberty. chap with 2500 students isn't fair against a boulder city with 600. these schools just need to build programs i know it isn't easy but it wouldn't be right for them to go down a division.
You gentlemen comment on how the 6-0 Falcons are not challenged and yet sing the praises of the great Bishop Gorman and Las Vegas who are clearly not challenged in their schedules, whats the difference? The key to successful teams is how they play TOGETHER as a unit and the spirit in which they attack the field, Liberty is a prime example, while they may have flaws in their skill set they sure know how to get into the heads of their opponents from the moment they perform the Siva Tau (not a HAKA, its a Samoan war dance) to the 4th quarter when they seem to rally. Foothill has HUGE talent on their team just look at the leader stats. Spread the love fellas, the Southeast is clearly the most "athletic and physical" division.
Amen Michelle!
It absolutely ridiculous not to have a 3A league. The smaller urban schools in Vegas need to be in 3A stop trying to appease everyone.
Alwaysreal: Enrollment should only be one factor in the classification argument. Competitive balance, at least for me, is most important.
It is a true shame we had a "quadruple" over-time game in our town this past week and no one talked about it. How often do we see those kind of games? That is exactly what we have all been saying for quite sometime, our kids never get the exposure they deserve. There has to be much more than 1 page on the paper the day following the games. That's why the California, Utah and Arizona kids receive the attention they receive. We have the money in town to constantly have these kids highlighted throughout the week and even in the offseason but there is no effort. We have to go to MaxPreps to get information on our own kids here in town. Seriously guys, UNLV has to be more involved with our high school programs so that we don't continue lossing them to out of state schools. Let's put the pressure on them, if we don't receive any push from them, we won't attend their games either!! The new coach (Bobby Hauck) has made an oath to do this, let's hope it's true.
