From the school
At Bennett, newsletters are sent to parents on a regular basis and contain information about school news, student achievement, and school activities. In addition, meetings are held with parents to provide information about school curriculum, classroom instruction, and student achievement. Some examples include Open House, ongoing teacher/parent/student contact and conferences, the spring Literacy Night and Math Night, and performances by a variety of student groups such as the Bell Choir, and grade level musicals. Bennett also has approximately twenty parents who serve in advisory groups, committees, and other organized parent groups, such as the PTA. They assist our school by conducting fundraisers, sponsoring the Fall Festival, the Family Breakfast, and the Staff Appreciation Luncheon. Parents are appointed to school committees, including the School Governance Team/Budget Committee, Security/Discipline Team, and Library/Textbook Selection Committee. These parent members have an equal voice in all decision making. Parents and family members are encouraged to volunteer at Bennett and over 20 choose to do so on a regular basis and in meaningful ways.
