From the school

Communication between the school and the community is a priority at Burkholder MS. We combine traditional methods and technology to promote consistent communication with our parents and community. In addition to Open House, parent newsletters, news flyers, and student planners, Burkholder parents can stay in touch with the school via the school website and ParentLink. ParentLink, a computer and telephone dial-up system, provides information on the students' academic progress, attendance history, and citizenship. The school website is updated regularly and highlights upcoming events, school news, testing dates, and school calendars. Furthermore, an automated phone dialer is used to deliver special messages and to notify parents of student absences. Parent volunteers assisted during the opening of the new school. Parents participated in field trips, teacher recognition, sporting events, library fundraisers, served on Parent Advisory Council and various other committees. Finally, teachers used student agenda planners, ParentLink, telephone, team conferences, e-mail, progress reports, and student notes to provide ongoing communication with parents.
