From the school
Las Vegas High School offers multiple lines of communication with parents and the local community. The annual Open House gives parents the opportunity to tour the school and visit with the teachers. Counselors and administrators meet with parents at the Eighth Grade Parent Night, Financial Aide Night, AVID Information Night, and Senior Graduation Night to explain requirements and answer questions. The Edline Online System allows parents easy access to electronically view student grades, attendance and transcripts, and progress/grade reports are sent home every three weeks. Community newsletters are sent, highlighting student achievements and activities. The auto dialer phones parents with reminders of important events and student's daily attendance. The principal meets monthly with the Parent Advisory Council to discuss current updates about the school, emerging issues and suggestions for improving overall student achievement.
