From the school

Consistent and ongoing communication is an integral component of the Helen Marie Elementary School culture. We strive to always keep the lines of communication open between the school, parents, and community by utilizing our outside sign which displays important school events and dates. We also send home a monthly newsletter that informs parents of school policies, upcoming events, and school/student achievements. Attached to the newsletter each month is a pamphlet entitled, "Helping Your Child Succeed." This publication offers various suggestions for parents to help their child be more successful in school. The teachers at H. M. Smith Elementary School also send home progress reports bi-monthly in order to keep parents abreast of their child's academic progress. Parents are always welcome to schedule an appointment to meet with the teacher when needed. Our school also has a Parent Concern Form that is available to parents. This form gives parents the platform to express any concerns or thoughts in writing. After completing the form, parents can expect a response within 24 hours. Parents are also encouraged to participate in the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) meetings.
