From the school
"Doris French Elementary School believes that our learning community can only be successful through a strong home-school relationship. As such, we strive to provide two-way communication and involvement for our families.
"Families and teachers maintain a high level of communication through interactive student agendas or folders, e-mail, telephone and face-to-face conferences.
"The school's marquee, Web site, monthly bilingual newsletters, monthly progress reports, trimester report cards, classroom newsletters, and individual teacher Web sites help keep families informed.
"Math and Parent Partnerships in the Southwest, adult English language learner classes, and parent-student-teacher academic planning time provide further opportunities for parents to become involved in their child's education.
"Families are invited to attend school-wide functions such as open houses, fall fests, family literacy nights, math and science nights, fall and spring music programs, field days, books and breakfast events, math facts Fridays, and talent shows. In addition, families are encouraged to volunteer for school and PTA-sponsored events. To show our thanks, our school hosts a volunteer appreciation luncheon every year.
"The school provides a full time bilingual student-parent liaison who strengthens our communication with our second language families."
