From the school
"Desert Pines High School has utilizes the EduLink program, EdLine, which allows parents to access student grades using their home computer. Teachers are required to update EdLine on a weekly basis from their Easy Grade Pro grade book.
"Progress notices are issued to students every third week and every classroom has a phone that parents can call to leave messages during the school day.
"The parent advisory committee meets on a monthly basis. These meetings are advertised in the schools newsletter, which is published six times during the school year, on the school's Web site, and in the principals perspective letter, as well.
"Gear-up parent nights and sidewalk cafes are held to highlight the gear-up program. We also hold a magnet school open house to enhance magnet parent participation. A freshman orientation barbeque and various other open house activities are held throughout the school year.
"Additional communication efforts also include an auto-dialer phone system and partnerships with local Hispanic newspapers and television and radio stations."
