From the school
Dean LaMar Allen Elementary School provides many ways for meaningful two-way communication with parents, families, and school staff. An open door policy offers parents and community members the opportunity to meet with the administration as needed. The school website provides current information regarding programs, staff, and priorities of the school. In addition, many teachers have created their own classroom websites which contain homework, upcoming classroom activities, and newsletters for parents. School newsletters, classroom newsletters, and informational flyers are published regularly and sent home to families. Teachers use conferences, class websites, written communication, progress reports, e-mails and telephone conferences to communicate regularly with parents. Parents and community members volunteer hundreds of hours of service each month to assist students and teachers in the classrooms.
