From the school
C.P. Squires ES provides for regular two-way and meaningful communication in a variety of ways. Every morning students, teachers and staff gather on the playground for opening exercises. Special announcements are made at this time. Family members are invited to observe these exercises before leaving campus. Prior to the beginning of the activities, the administrators and teachers are available if parents need to talk to them. Further communication occurs in the form of newsletters and flyers. Parents are informed of special events, holidays and other newsworthy items in both English and Spanish. The administration of Squires ES maintains an "open door" policy. Parents are welcome to come to the office or phone whenever they have a question or concern. Monthly parent trainings, funded by Title I, are held during the school day. At these trainings, parents are taught techniques for working with their children on academics at home. Parents are also invited to join PTA and to be active participants in the morning fitness program and in its extracurricular activities. All of these provide opportunities for meaningful communication.
