From the school
At Charlotte Hill Elementary School, newsletters are sent to parents each month and contain information regarding student achievement and school events. A comment sheet for parent input is included in each newsletter. In addition, teachers prepare and distribute progress reports every two weeks to keep parents informed about students' academic progress and social growth. Each student is given a planner which is used to record daily lesson objectives, list homework assignments, and provide two-way written communication between home and school. Parents participate on school committees and volunteer in classrooms. Parents and community volunteers present lessons on business and economics to students as part of the Junior Achievement program. Several activities are provided throughout the year for parent participation, including orientation, open house, science/academic fair, and parent/student/teacher academic planning time.
