From the school

Parental involvement and communication are integral components of Hughes Middle School. Each month, a school newsletter is sent home highlighting curricular and extra-curricular school events. On the school website, parents have access to the monthly newsletter, calendared events, and the daily video announcements on podcasts. Parents can attend various activities and performances at the school throughout the year such as Open House, fine arts performances, athletic events, and monthly Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings. Hughes Middle School has established numerous partnerships with community members and businesses. Several volunteers do daily one-on-one reading tutoring with identified students. Many businesses have contributed to the Student Support Committee fund, enhancing research-based programs and hands-on learning activities to enrich the educational development of students. Parents are able to access In-Touch on-line, a web-based program designed to communicate class progress and attendance information. Teachers and parents can communicate via e-mail through the Interact e-mail system. All classrooms are equipped with telephones, enabling teachers and parents to communicate directly.
