From the school
Saville Middle School prides itself on promoting ongoing two-way communication. Approximately 80 percent of parents attended school functions such as parent orientations, sodas and schedules, fine arts concerts, basketball games, informational meetings for sports and clubs and open house. Newsletters were sent to parents bimonthly and contained information about school news and activities, student achievement and recognition, curriculum and staff development. Parent Advisory Committee meetings were held the second Wednesday of each month to provide information about school curriculum, classroom instruction and student achievement. Parent volunteers assisted in the main office, library, registrars office and student store by answering phone calls, assembling notices, inventorying books, assisting with school fundraisers, attending field trips and providing classroom support. Parents utilized the In-Touch Communication program to check attendance and grades, and they helped with the development of various grants to enhance the schools instructional program. The following school committees included parent participants: Learning Improvement Team, Safety Committee, Library Review Committee, and School Banking Committee.
