Sunrise Landfill Tour

Officials show off flood control projects during a media tour of the Sunrise Landfill in Las Vegas, Nevada Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013. In 1998, a storm damaged the landfill cap, sending waste into the Las Vegas Wash and Lake Mead. The tour marked the completion of $36 million in storm control construction.

i remember when the silver city scamblers motorcyle club hosted flat track,moto-cross and likely desert races up at the dump.all of the area's great riders competed there.max switzer and jack Johnson come readily to mind.i'm also recalling an out of the way italian restaraunt halfway up sunrise mountain but i'm thinking it was on charleston blvd.
