UNLV found itself in what in recent years has become unfamiliar territory Tuesday when the Mountain West Conference released its 2009 preseason football media poll. “Here’s what I’d say — I’m encouraged that the media sees there’s progress in the program,” Rebels football coach Mike Sanford said. “On the other side of the scale, it doesn’t mean anything.”
