Dr. Edna Almaden_Makabenta has been a dear girl to us since her younger years in San Joaquin. She grew up to be a lady whose dedication was to help her fellowmen. As a young woman, she was newly installed as a member of the Catholic Women's League in our parish during her last visit to the village sometime in July 2008 before the tragic end of her life. And having a stable job/business in Las Vegas, she was very supportive in all our church activities and projects. She was a humble woman whom one sees to give time talking to people she met and even more, help in the cleaning of our churchyard. As a doctor, she extended free medical treatments and free medications not only to CWL Members but to the constituents of San Joaquin, young and old alike. We love her and we will never forget her as a woman whose generosity, humility and kindness had been felt by everyone in the parish. The thoughts of her will remain as our inspiration in our continued service to our fellowmen, the way to God's Kingdom in the same steps Edna had lived her life. We will miss her a lot but we know she had lived her life the way she wished it, and now experience a never-ending joy with our creator.
