Jump Rope for Peace

Tue, Feb 3, 2009 (3:58 p.m.)

Students at Martha P. King and Andrew J. Mitchell elementary schools in Boulder City have been celebrated Peace Week last week. Thursday, second graders from Mitchell jump-roped for peace in mismatched socks. The day’s theme was “We are all Unique,” so children were encouraged to stray from the norm in their dress.

Counselor Kim Cox, who donned differently colored striped stockings, said every day was themed so the students would think about spreading peace, love and respect. King students are encouraged for a few more weeks to feed the Pennies for Peace jar, proceeds from which will be mailed to schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
