During the Bush era, dems said "Dissent is patriotism" during the Obama administration dissent must be considered racism.
You have a very poor memory. Democrats didn't characterize their dissent as anything but dissent. A right guaranteed by the constitution.
Since your memory fails you, ask a friend who has retained some gray cells. He'll remind you it was Republicans who characterized Democratic dissent as not merely Unpatriotic, but Treasonous.
We were complaining about Bush's policies. It was political, not personal. I like W. This stuff I am seeing about Obama is vile. It isn't everyone doing it, but I don't see the republican leaders calling out these racists and throwing them out. You republicans have poor memory that is was the GOP that used the "Southern Strategy" to win bigoted white voters. It was Reagan using a fictional "Welfare Queen", Bush I using "Willie Horton". Also don't forget that all democrats called out and admonished Moveon.org when they called Bush II a Nazi.
StanG and brtaylor:
Conservative Republicans have neither understanding of differences nor memories of what has transpired. All they can do is complain and say "NO!"
Therefore, trying to reason with them is futile.
It's not about race, it's about his policies. Same debate, different president.
No. Different debate. Different president. Signs criticizing Bush never used derogatory terms that referred to his race.
If you don't think the following signs and props -- popular at protest rallies -- are racist, then you're probably mentally deficient (in fact, it's a miracle you can even read this):

If, on the other hand, you recognize these as racist, but *still* argue there's no racism in the anti-Obama movement, you're fooling yourself. Or lying.
..!..
Sorry. It's not about race. It's about bankrupting our future with another social program that will be wasteful and full of fraud.
Also, Jimmy Carter is the worst president of the second half of the 20th century. He was out of touch then and is out of touch now.
Shed your ideology and start practicing some independent critical thought. Maybe then you can embrace reality.
