During Stephen Zimmerman’s first four official visits, the Bishop Gorman senior’s presence was a big deal, and that’s not just because of his 7-foot stature. It’s an event when a top-10 basketball recruit comes to town, and Kansas, Arizona, UCLA and Kentucky each did their part to mix VIP treatment with the idea that their campus could feel like home.
With a 27-22 win over the Wolf Pack, UNLV brought the Fremont Cannon back home after eight years of losses in 2013.

The Battle for the Fremont Cannon will kick off at night, it was announced today, so UNLV’s basketball game on Saturday, Nov. 29 will move to 3:30 p.m. to make room for the football game at 7:30 p.m.

Dave Rice could barely wait to start his first postgame press conference of the 2014-15 season. The Rebels’ needed a defensive stop in the final seconds to hold off an impressive Morehead State team, and Rice felt fortunate to be on the right side of a game that could have gone either way.

The Rebels came up with a stop when they needed it and they hold on for a thrilling 60-59 victory against Morehead State. UNLV is 1-0 and returns to action at the Mack on Sunday at 5 p.m. against Sam Houston State.

More than on recent rosters at UNLV, there are some limitations on the disparity among different lineups the Rebels can run out there this season. The biggest difference is size and UNLV’s relative lack of it, but within that there are still plenty of options for the Rebels’ coaching staff.
