Maybe it’s just something in the blood. After vehemently denying transfer rumors at the end of the regular season, UNLV freshman Katin Reinhardt is looking for a new home, Rebels coach Dave Rice confirmed. Overall this will be Reinhardt’s third commitment.

The Rebels’ last trip to a national championship tournament was in 2010, back when Carl Jonson and A.J. McInerney were still in high school. Now Jonson, a sophomore, and McInerney, a freshman from Coronado High, are the Rebels’ top performers heading into the tournament in Atlanta.

The UNLV stadium bill was gutted of a key provision this week: creation of a special tax district around the university to help finance a proposed on-campus stadium. Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick introduced an amended bill Thursday that has no language pertaining to a tax-increment financing district, which would have allowed any new tax money generated by the stadium to help fund its construction.

The UNLV women’s tennis team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament Friday for just the third time in school history. The No. 57 ranked Rebels (20-7) won four of six singles matches against No. 27 Tulsa in the NCAA first round, erasing an early deficit after doubles play for a 4-3 victory and spot in the second round.
