After leading the nation’s freshmen in receiving yards, Devonte Boyd is the Mountain West Freshman of the Year, the league announced this morning. Boyd is also a second-team all-league pick, joining senior offensive lineman Brett Boyko with that honor.

Bobby Hauck has resigned as the UNLV head football coach, saying his staff didn’t win enough games. But Tina Kunzer-Murphy, the Rebels’ athletic director, says Hauck isn’t the sole person to blame. “It’s not the coach. It’s us,” she said. “We have to change the culture.”
