St. Pierre unamused with Diaz calling him pampered
Like an active volcano that’s bubbled under the surface for the last few centuries, everyone knew it was only a matter of time before Nick Diaz erupted again. An outburst finally registered Thursday afternoon on a conference call previewing his UFC 158 welterweight title fight against Georges St. Pierre next week.

Silva pulls off upset in UFC on Fuel TV 8 main event
The inspirator beat the inspired; the past-his-prime veteran topped the ascending favorite. The legend rose again. “The Axe Murderer” slayed “The All American”. Wanderlei Silva added another unforgettable moment to his heap of accomplishments in mixed martial arts, knocking out Brian Stann at 4:08 of the second round in the main event of Saturday night’s UFC on Fuel TV 8.

Wanderlei Silva, Brian Stann headline Saturday's free-television card
Out of everything that could have happened in Hector Lombard’s first nine months with the UFC, his current situation was perhaps among the most improbable. Lombard’s worth should receive some clarity Saturday in Tokyo, where he meets Yushin Okami in a main-card bout at UFC on Fuel TV 8.

With 10 fighters already signed, UFC hopes to add five more female bantamweights soon
Those who didn’t know any better probably thought a particular group tagging along for all of the UFC 157 festivities last week was a part of Ronda Rousey’s entourage. Four women received prime seating at everything from the press conference to the fight card, where Rousey submitted Liz Carmouche with an armbar at 4:49 of the first round in the UFC’s inaugural female fight.

Judges side with Machida in close, uneventful co-main event
Dan Henderson shook Dana White’s hand, congratulated Liz Carmouche on a great fight and walked right past Lyoto Machida without a word or gesture. Henderson bailed from the UFC 157 post-fight press conference early after his split-decision loss (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) to Machida. He allotted just enough time to give Machida’s performance in the co-main event a scathing review before his exit.

Inaugural UFC women's fight full of back-and-forth action
The camera crew wanted Ronda Rousey to keep walking, to triumphantly coast out of the arena with a belt around her waist and a smile adorning her face like every other UFC champion before her. A group of female fans congregated by the railing where Rousey exited the octagon after beating Liz Carmouche with a first-round submission by arm bar had other plans. They screamed and waved their cameras in hopes to get the UFC women’s bantamweight champion’s attention.

Lyoto Machida ekes out win over Dan Henderson in co-main event
The distractions failed. The result stayed the same. Ronda Rousey was the most in-demand athlete in the history of the UFC over the last two weeks, and she showed why in the promotion’s first-ever female fight Saturday night at the Honda Center. Rousey capped off UFC 157 with a first-round submission victory by arm bar, making Liz Carmouche her seventh opponent to fall to an identical fate.

Effects of last year's canceled event stretches all the way to Saturday's pay-per-view card
In the aftermath of the UFC’s first-ever canceled event five months ago, everyone empathized with at least one of the involved parties. But neither Jones nor White ended up losing the most from UFC 151 in the long run. The two true victims of the whole situation meet in the co-main event of UFC 157 Saturday in Anaheim, Calif. — Dan Henderson (29-8 MMA, 6-2 UFC) and Lyoto Machida (18-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC).

Nick Diaz fails to back up years worth of talk

UFC 158 A welterweight title fight that felt incredibly different wound up remarkably the same. Georges St. Pierre manhandled nemesis Nick Diaz with his wrestling. St. Pierre won every round on every judges' scorecard in Montreal for his sixth straight unanimous-decision victory. Diaz had preached his superiority over St. Pierre for years, but when he finally got his chance, he looked as helpless as all the other challengers to the 170-pound division's throne in the last six years. St. Pierre's consistency continued to amaze. Now it's on to Johny Hendricks, who defeated Carlos Condit in the evening's co-main event. Could he be the one to finally threaten St. Pierre?
