    MONTREAL — The reconciliation lasted about as long as one round. After Georges St. Pierre routed Nick Diaz with a unanimous-decision victory (50-45, 50-45, 50-45) in the UFC 158 main event, the two were cordial in the octagon and appeared to put their rivalry in the past. Then St. Pierre walked to an interview with Fuel TV backstage right after Diaz.

    MONTREAL — Showing no lingering animosity, Georges St. Pierre took Nick Diaz's hand and raised it to the packed crowd in his hometown Bell Centre. Of course, that was an easy position to take with the way the fight went. St. Pierre stifled Diaz, barely letting his longtime rival mount any kind of offense at UFC 158. The champion won his 11th title fight, cruising to a unanimous-decision victory (50-45, 50-45, 50-45).

    Say this much for Nick Diaz: In the rare instances when he does decide to show up for media functions, he makes it worth everyone’s while. A day after skipping an open workout, Diaz arrived on time and participated in the UFC 158 pre-fight press conference Thursday at the Bell Centre.

    The hysteria surrounding Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz has severely affected rest of the fights scheduled at Saturday’s UFC 158. It’s taken away from fights that, according to oddsmakers, should prove exponentially more competitive than the main event. Although St. Pierre is already higher than a 5-to-1 favorite over Diaz in some spots, the three bouts directly below the welterweight championship match on the pay-per-view card from Montreal’s Bell Centre are all near pick’em at sports books.

    Even if Roy Nelson had set the UFC record for fastest knockout and celebrated with an Olympic-caliber backflip Saturday night at the Hard Rock Hotel, he would have been a secondary storyline. “The Ultimate Fighter 16" finale card played out underneath the considerable shadow of the UFC’s biggest star. Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre dropped in at the event, holding a short media session a few hundred yards away from the octagon at the Joint in a convention-center room.

Nick Diaz fails to back up years worth of talk

UFC 158 A welterweight title fight that felt incredibly different wound up remarkably the same. Georges St. Pierre manhandled nemesis Nick Diaz with his wrestling. St. Pierre won every round on every judges' scorecard in Montreal for his sixth straight unanimous-decision victory. Diaz had preached his superiority over St. Pierre for years, but when he finally got his chance, he looked as helpless as all the other challengers to the 170-pound division's throne in the last six years. St. Pierre's consistency continued to amaze. Now it's on to Johny Hendricks, who defeated Carlos Condit in the evening's co-main event. Could he be the one to finally threaten St. Pierre?
