    Aly Raisman, the 18-year-old captain of the United States’ gold medal winning gymnastics team, or the Fierce Five, as the group of teens is affectionately known, could speak for hours on the joys of Olympic glory.     The American women won their fifth straight gold medal Saturday, routing France 86-50 and putting more distance between themselves and the rest of the world heading to Rio for the 2016 Games.

    NBC acknowledged some critics Saturday in announcing it changed plans and will stream Sunday's Olympic closing ceremony live online. Sunday's ceremony from London will still air on a tape-delayed basis on NBC in prime time. For the opening ceremony, NBC took some heat for not making the event available to anyone in the United States for hours after the fact.

    Oribe Peralta scored only 29 seconds into the Olympic men's soccer final at Wembley Stadium and added another goal in the second half to help Mexico upset Brazil 2-1 Saturday.

    UNLV’s Amanda Bingson finished 13th in her heat of the women’s hammer throw Wednesday morning at the London Olympics. Bingson threw 67.29 meters, well off the mark needed to advance to the finals. Fellow Americans Amber Campbell (69.93) and Jessica Cosby (69.65) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the other heat. The top four from each heat advanced to the finals.
