Mesquite will be the host city for one of Southern Nevada’s biggest football games next week. On a night Desert Pines improved to 6-0 with a blowout of Sunrise Mountain, Virgin Valley did the same by beating Boulder City 34-3.

On the surface, Virgin Valley put together a decent season last year under new coach Chris Sawyers. While far from perfect, the Bulldogs did manage to finish the regular season with a winning record and advance to the playoffs. Just don’t try to sell Sawyers on the positives.

With Corsey missing the game and the Jaguars needing someone to make up for the absence, Davis had his best game of the season in a 41-28 home triumph over Virgin Valley.
