The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Williams, who returned to the Eldorado lineup last week after missing the entire season with an enlarged spleen, was in the Chaparral backfield all night and sealed the Sundevils 48-21 victory in the annual “Cleat Game” with a 13-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Del Sol High football team’s 40-6 victory Friday against visiting Eldorado was anything but leisurely. The Dragons had to overcome numerous penalties (eight in the first half alone) that halted scoring drives, their quarterback fumbled a snap on the goal line going in for a touchdown and their holder consistently struggled getting the ball down on extra points.

Rams' Steven Jackson among 5 inducted into local hall of fame: Saturday, June 11, 2011; prep recruiting: St. Louis running back shined at Oregon State, helping make Las Vegas a must-stop on the recruiting trail; By Ray Brewer; During a ceremony Friday at the Orleans Arena to induct Steven Jackson into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame, the St. Louis Rams running back was praised for his many successes on the gridiron. For Las Vegas area high school football players, Jackson’s most significant accomplishment was simply excelling at the next level. Before Jackson burst onto the scene at Oregon State, Southern Nevada was lightly recruited and several players with college-level talent went under-recruited. But after Jackson shined with the Beavers, college coaches made sure Las Vegas was included on the recruiting trail.

Former Eldorado star Steven Jackson of St. Louis Rams to be enshrined in local hall: Tuesday, March 15, 2011; Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame will also induct 1944 Las Vegas High team this June; By Ray Brewer; The achievements of this high school football team seem almost unreal. The Las Vegas High 1944 state championship squad surrendered no points — not a touchdown, field goal or safety — and didn’t allow an opponent to record consecutive first downs, going undefeated in eight games. Offensively, they never threw a forward pass — a rarity, even then.
