Kapeli rushed for 221 yards and two touchdowns. He received the bulk of the work at running back with Ty Byrd missing his second straight game with a sore knee.

But sophomore wide receiver Cody Mucino had three touchdowns for the Cougars, including 24-yard scoring strike with less than 30 seconds to play in helping the Cougars force overtime. That’s where kicker Brock Morrison’s 47-yard field goal gave the Cougars that signature win they were looking for, a 30-27 victory.

He didn’t disappoint.

But in one of the Dragons’ most important games of the season on Friday night, they had to rally without their top performer. Reed was benched after drawing a personal foul on a late hit in the second quarter against a player from visiting Coronado.
